![]() | Not sure where to post this, but it *is* a trip report, although in video format. As I introduced myself here on DIR-X Teppo from Finland "overheard" me say something about a DVD... Well, I could hardly post that up on the internet, so I've made a 5 minutes 43 seconds "short version" of it and thanks to Al from the UK, who's got some HD space and bandwith left, so I can share it with you. We've tried it in IE 6.x and it works well; with Firefox, it didn't, so you might start IE or try "right click and save" for this 10,7 MB (!) wmv-file. This short excerpt features some shots from the Ressel and Landenouse; the 1+ hour DVD also hosts St. Georges, Trou Madame and Cabouy. Incidentally, I did a Dutch as well as an English voice over and subtitles in both languages on the DVD and audio comes in stereo and Dolby 5.1, so if you're interested in getting the entire DVD; write me a PM. Enjoy and let me know what you think ! Here it is: http://odie.al.star.co.uk/cavelot2005.wmv Best, Harald p.s.: thanks again to Teppo for the idea and to Al for the hosting !!! |

| New Member | Hi Harald Cool Video, i liked the wire model of Ressel and Landenouse. The dry part Ressel was nice also, does the rope start from the surface of the air chamber in Ressel? Cant wait to get back to Lot, but here few technical questions What light´s you had for video? And which software you used for editing the clip? ps. I got TRV900 and getting some lights in few weeks, hope tp shoot some video of Ojamo and in France Regards Teppo |

![]() | Lot video Thanks Danny ! Teppo: that's the thing ! I don't have any additional lighting apart from my 10W HID . The trick is to use as much light from the team as possible, so shots were everybody is lighting the same area come out lots better than shots only lighted with your own light.I want to get started on building 2x50W HID which is absolutely necessary to get excellent video. The standard light heads we use really are not very suitable for lighting; especially the 18W HID's are so well focussed, that you get too much lighting on the spot where they're aimed, and too little around it. Video lighting should be parabolic, I guess. For editing I use Sony Vegas, which is easy enough to handle without a college degree and Sony DVD architect for DVD authoring (the subtitling, DVD menus and various audio channels come in during the authoring, not -so much- during the editing). I myself am looking to go back in March (I'll become a father for the second time in May, so the last few months of my wife's pregnancy and anything after our baby is born will be out :D or I'll be receiving divorce papers ). |

The line -I think- used to be connected to the main line (but I'm not sure). What I left out in this short clip is where Davy, my buddy, takes out his line arrows and reel and we start moving up. Not too far up, we found this line. As you will notice, it speleology line, which effectively means somebody dived the Ressel, surfaced in the chamber (which is huge), climbed al the way up -probably surveying it- and fixed a line somewhere up high where we couldn't even see it ! This effectively means you'll have to "jump", but only a little bit. Maybe David can chip in and give you more details. Best, Harald |

![]() | Ressel main line to chamber We're saying the same thing A-M , although admittedly my part may have been less than perfectly clear .When I said Quote: The line -I think- used to be connected to the main line (but I'm not sure). I was referring to a more or less distant past, somewhere "before my time".I knew we tied in to the speleologists' line not far above the main line, but in fact here you have one of the main drawbacks of under water video-filming: you do miss things (it's terribly difficult to stay totally focussed and film at the same time, one of the reasons we didn't take the camera on the more demanding dives we did this trip). | New Member | Wow only 10w HID?? Then the video came out very nice compared to little you had light there for filming Need to check that software you mentioned, but still looking for MAC for editing :D I think the line to dry chamber was in 2003 there? But at that time the where a load of lines starting in "deep" section before junction (shallow and "deep" connecting) going up. Teppo |
