Brrrr!

Just a quick note to say that Moz and I met up with Davey Willo, Jen and Dave today at Ellerton Park in North Yorkshire. Davey had kindly offered to let us try diving a hogarthian rig. We ended up at Ellie after a couple of abandoned trips to the Cape. Not fancying the trip across the A66 we met up at a very snowy Ellie where Davey talked us through the rig set up. Meanwhile, toes, fingers, noses, nuts and just about everything was slowly turning solid. Let's get in the water we decided, it must be warmer than out here. Some fecking hope - 2c was the coldest water I've ever dived. Anyway, the five of us got in. Jen demonstrated some drills for us, but not mask clearing - I wonder why , After this we went for a pootle in about 2m viz so saw bugger all other than the occasional light signal.

The plan was Moz and I would then do the next dive in the rigs, but this was rapidly binned, rather wisely, for the warmth and comfort of the pub. My fingers have just about thawed out.

Anyway, thanks for an interesting but nonetheless enjoyable day out. It was good to meet up with some more people on here. Not sure if Jen had been to Ellie before, but driving up from Sheffield for a half hour dip in icy water is a sure sign of psychosis if you ask me. Mind, I think the rest of us have mental health issue too :D

Look forward to doing it again...

Dave

I'm pretty sure that Jen does not suffer from any form of psychosis .... apart from Davey Willo maybe.

It's a long trip down to Stoney from the North East but if you fancy it pop down on the 8th Dave .. meet the real psychotics!

Oh and how I suffer. Having tried out my new 'Waterproof 5/7' hood, which was excellent, all Willo could say was "I don't like your new hood, you've got a big fat f**k off face in it".

Icy water and awful viz is one thing, but I was questioning the 90 minute drive from Sheffield at that point.

Jen
