| New Member | What happen? You spit the DSV out is disgust? Cheers!! K While performing a bail out drill: I closed the DSV, removed it from my mouth and lifted it above my head before releasing it to go onto bailout. While lifting, it opened as it was adjusted too loose. So act like you are holding the DSV in your hand and lift it.... that tiny amount of strain, opened the DSV to allow water to flood my CCR. The whole thing is just TOOOOOO easy to mess with. The same old kinds of excuses ensued: oops it was a slight adjustment error Hey, it happens all the time It must be the guy who serviced it yada yada yada OC rules man. Plus I found out the CCR only gives me 3 hours.... that just isn't enough for my dives :D DIR or death I say!

| Doing It Caverkevin | Sounds like you are painting all rebreathers with a broad brush from one bad experience. I have had two instances where OC exhaust bubbles have triggered collapses and almost cost my life. Plenty of other times watched bubbles cause damage to the environment in which they were released. OC is not that great. Not all systems are equal. There are CCR systems out there that are water tolerant and have a lot more than 3 hours of duration on the scrubber. Cheers!! K OC rules man. Plus I found out the CCR only gives me 3 hours.... that just isn't enough for my dives :D DIR or death I say! |

Use what you need, there are plenty of options.I agree with Kevin, don't tar them all the same because of one not very good experience.

| cave deprived and Kissed | I agree with Stuart and Kevin ... Seems that you have just tried with the wrong unit ... 3 hours scrubber that's really low, I agree with you. The new radial rEvo and the Meg with Radial cannister will give you 8 hours + easy. The Meg is much more water tolerant. I have not flooded mine (a CK) in 70 hours + so far ... and yeah the BOV is a good thing

That is reserved for JJ.....(for now at least) By the way, what is the TFT?

You are all right of course. ![]() I've never seen the point of chucking the DSV over the head either, if I come off the loop I tuck it under my chin. I would would be wrong to tar all the CCRs out there. But after that one day, I can say for 100% sure that they [CCRs] have a LONG way to go before they are truly user friendly for the wicked type of diving we do. BUT, I am very strict on saftey and also, I actually get paid MORE when I dive OC (since my cleints buy my gas for me FROM ME :D) I am still hoping that JJ comes up with some genius solution though.

Depends on your definition of user friendly. Mine takes about 30min to set up if you work through the checklist from the manual but once it's done then that's it for the next 3 days or 5hrs diving. All I have to do is switch it on, put it on and dive, irrelevant of depth and I don't have to touch it post dive other than to switch it off again. You cannot do that OC. So it's a tool for a job.Quote: BUT, I am very strict on saftey There's an opening there for a very old and tired argument.Quote: I actually get paid MORE when I dive OC (since my cleints buy my gas for me FROM ME :D) As a Scot that's an argument very close to my heart ![]() Quote: I am still hoping that JJ comes up with some genius solution though. He better start learning how to dive CCR before he starts preaching on a solution if he wants to be taken seriously.
