A weekend in Brighton off Nauticat

Iain Smith, David Martin and I spent the weekend diving off Nauticat out of brighton (http://www.channeldiving.com/home.phtml). It's a nice Catamaran with plenty of space for 12 divers.

Saturday - The Tyco

I've got very little information about this wreck, although it is fairly broken up lying in about 30m. We did 40mins on the wreck with about 15mins Deco. The vis was quite good, but the wreck was quite hard to navigate as there was very little of the actual structure left. I was shooting video, and David and Iain haven't played with the video stuff before so that added some more fun into the dive.

Sunday - The Fortuna
(http://www.divesitedirectory.co.uk/d...s_fortuna.html)

This was a really really nice little wreck, we did 45mins on it and swam the whole length probably 6 times. Deck was about 28-9m, seabed about 32m. Again I had the video rig with me, and the footage looks quite good. Vis was about 8-10m until the others on the boat turned up, at which point the vis dropped to ~1m, but then cleared up after about 25mins as all the other divers left the wreck leaving the 3 of us alone, which was much more pleasant. Definately worth a visit if you're diving in the brighton area and want a 30m dive.

I'm sure when I've got some time I'll knock up a video clip of it

Good to know you had a fun weekend John.

I've been on Nauticat three times now - it is a good boat. 1st time they called a helicopter to evacuate a diver, 2nd time Mark who I was diving with broke a rib on the lift, 3rd they had to call a helipcopter again for another buddy pair on the boat.

I told the skipper I'll let him know when I'll be back

There's a lift on the Nauticat?? Looking at the boat blurb on the website they only mention a ladder...?

As I'm thinking about moving to Brighton a decent boat with a lift would be another reason to get out of Oxford!

While walking along the pontoon to Nauticat I reckon I counted 5 other diver lifts.

It was actually quite a nice weekend, I'd forgotten how much fun wreck diving can be without stages
