| New Member | Tryfan and Dorothea Hi Thought I would have a go at a report..typing really ain't my thing..Nothing too special this report..with last weekends beautiful weather i combined two things that i enjoy ..hills and Diving so with Snowdonia 1.5 hours away a plan Saturday on the hills on Tryfan abeautiful rugged Mountian at 915m..dragged the wife up not impressed she had just had her nails done and its a difficult scramble in places...However it was stunning with excellent viz and not a breath of wind with glorious sunshine.. and absolutly still a great day was had ... On Sunday I awoke at 0630 shattered for a 0900 meet at MacDs Caernarvon With Mates Chris ,Derek Ian and Neil ...off we set for a short drive to Dorothea It has a bit of a reputation ..but it is my fave inland site it has the lot a moody beauty thats slightly forboding and it has depth for everyone and its not the Pink snorkel diving that Capers/Stoney suffers from. Dive one was a Short 40min bimble to take Ian in whom is interested in the DIR way so he was number two between Derek and I ..Down to 32m and up along the roadway to the tunnel and up the slope...The water was 6 deg dark but extremley clear the shafts of sunlight coming down ..brilliant just a chilled dive. Next Dive is probably of more interest to you all myself and Chris B set off with an X-Scooter each for the second dive had took me to about 12m and although i have had a play with a Gavin and an X before ..never had any proper tuition on Runaways and protocol positioning etc.. this we did with Chris showing then me having ago great fun after 25mins of tuition and getting on fine we both had a zip about together maxing at 28m running about the left of the quarry good viz top fun ..Soon we had reached RB ..time to clip off and ascend doing min Deco in the Sun in great ..really enjoyed myself The x-scooter to be fair has had a hard time on the gavin list..not that i am an expert ..it is light fast and easy to use and control...in fact top fun would love to take one to Scapa So as You can tell I enjoyed myself...all in all a top good to be alive weekend Best Andy |

| GUE Instructor Site Admin | Nice to read your report Andy - thanks for writing it up. I did think about an X scooter - they are a lot smaller and lighted than the Gavins aren't they... but then I knew I would need help and advice from other scooter owners and they are all Gavins so far... The mountain sounds beautiful. George would no doubt have said that you should have run up it in your twinset ![]()

| Administrator | If you are thinking of an X Scooter Tobin from Deep Sea Supply is bringing out NIMH batteries for them which will give them the same run time as long body Gavins but MUCH lighter and easier to handle. Will dig up the link if you are interested. |
