Another first dive with twinset!

Capernwray Wednesday 15th

Good! but cold!
In the water with Neilh & StephenT

I started suffering cramp in my calves on the first dive. So wasn't as great as I would have liked.
The twins were no real problem, didn't feel head heavy to me, 2kgs on the waist belt (checked at the end of the day, and easily held 1.5m with 10bar, so I might get away with less)

A little time to get used to the extra mass and getting used to the new(to me) wing, at first I felt as if my trim & bouyancy was all over the place, but managed to settle down a bit. Stephen had dropped quite a bit a of wieght and his trim and bouyancy was much improved. Neil just got on with buisiness keeping an eagle eye out!

------------and then-----------

SHUTDOWN DRILL!
Neil demonstrated the full skills drill and a perfect shutdown(as I am sure you'll see this weekend Rich) and then invited me to do the same.

I did it! with no problems(ish). And even helped Neil with his back finning at the same time(Probably now UK champion) I'm multi-tasking me!
Some sneaky scamp moved the Orca about 15m whilst I was doing it without me noticing!

We'll say nothing about the blob firing except If the Marx brothers were divers, thats us, that was!!

Good fun indeed!(but sodding cold)

David

David,

Sounds like a great introduction. I watch too many people here that go out with their friends (who have no clue about valve drills and s-drills themselves) where the friend will "show" them how to dive doubles. It's scary. It sounds like you had the right friend to help you.

Awesome!

QBU,
Neil was a good buddy, and I have helped his back finning skills no end

I beleive the new requirement for DIR-F is to carry out the drill whilst circumnavigating a wreck.

Might be wrong about that but I think it should be included

Not quite the full skills drill, for some reason I decided against a full mask removal!!

...and thanks for jinxing the shutdowns for this weekend as well

Now I know why everyone else is good at back kicks as well - it's the practice they've had recently chasing me doing shutdowns

Must work out why turning a valve makes my feet kick!!

Some nice dives though chaps, thanks!
