February 24th & 25th - YD Stoney Gig

Had a cracking weekend. Got to dive with Neilh, Garf, J.W, JAG, Sterny and met up with Crispy Fiver, Knackers, Rick and others on the surface. Was really good to meet you or see you all again - delete as necessary!

Jamie, soz we didn't get to meet up for a dive, next time Neil and I plan to hook up we'll drop you a line, if you fancy it.

John, thanks again for the kit loan - I almost got it DIR-compliant

Had some good bimbles about. I had borrowed a set of Mr Walkers twins and an evolve the week before and was busy trying to get weight & trim sorted (and get used to these sub-arctic conditions) and all felt pretty good. Although my PB Explorer has definitely sprung a leak. Grrrr

It was good to get back in the water with Neil after not diving together for 4 months and everything was relaxed and natural, as it was buddying and running a few skills with Garf too - it's so reassuring to know that you can jump in the water with someone you don't know that's GUE trained and know what you're going to get from them underwater.

Here's a few none-to-exciting underwater photos...

If anyone wants a slightly higher res copy (or wants me to delete them from here and seal them in a box marked "do not open 'til 2106") then let me know.

Cheers guys

Jonathan

Yeah great weekend everyone, thanks!

Was really good to get back in the water with Jonathan and chat about how things have been going post-fundies! Had some really good dives that just felt really relaxed with things going as we wanted them to - nice drills, nice ascents, reasonable trim. Still feel like I'm fighting the dump on the suit, and if my wet arm is from it leaking then it's winning so far

Was great to meet some new folk as well - Garf, Jag and John in particular provided excellent company and non-stop laughter :D Thanks guys!

Good to see knackers again too - even if he did wait until it was too late to get a dive in! We'll get you back in the water somehow mate :D

Yep, cheers for the weekend guys. Thanks to Garf for helping adjust my harness, I'm due to have both shoulders put back in this afternoon. But hey, I can reach my valves now! Very much appreciated. Thanks to Jonathon and Neil also, it was an absolute pleasure to meet you gents, and thanks to all for answering questions and offering advice when asked. Some food for thought, definately. Thanks for the photos Jonathan, but you obviously haven't reorientated your camera. Do you remember you were below me to the left, the resulting shot was this one

Being out of the water for a while showed with the simulated deco run being a bit scrappy, need to iron that out sharpish, but all in all a great weekend.

P.S. I want my salvo back
