Shutdowns a go-go :D

Well I got the "new" twinset wet in Capernwray on the weekend and what a mixed weekend it was!

On the positive side the twins felt great in the water, worked a treat and looked the business thanks to Willo's suggestions for the 1st stages - thanks mate

Saturday consisted of 3 pretty rough dives playing with trim and weighting. I'm still tipping head down, but pretty happy with the weighting now. It's only when trying to hold station that I'm uncomfortable, when swimming about things feel pretty good.

Ascents were really shoddy, I need to really work on getting air out of the suit. Still, practice, practice, practice!

Sunday was a cracking day for me. I borrowed the DSS tail weight pouch from Ian and felt really comfy in the water. Still slightly head down, but it didn't feel too bad :D

Throughout the weekend I'd been practicing reaching back to the valves - first dive on Sunday it was time to try a drill. Ian showed complete confidence in me by stowing his light and switching to his backup reg ready! ....and my first successful shutdown drill :D:D:D I think Ian picked up on the fact I was pretty chuffed at finally being able to do this when I whooped through the reg and did a little happy dance!

Second dive was a bit of a bimble with Ian, Keylime and Moz which was nice and relaxed. I was probably a little excessive with trying to get the air out of the suit through Sunday, but the end result was far more controlled ascents - so I was pleased. Moz did a stunning ascent on this dive - a picture of control

It was also the first chance to get the TLS wet with it's mods by SDS. It fitted great and felt really nice - and the pockets were spot on :D

The huge dissapointment for the weekend was finding one of the wrist seals was on it's way out and leaked on every dive. (Chuffed that the xerotherm and RoHo thermocline stayed warm even when wet tho!). At least it lasted until I took the suit off on Sunday before giving up and tearing

So it's back into SDS to get sorted ready for this weekend!!

Thanks for reading folk!

Your trim looked pretty good to me, mate. Enjoyed the bimble, and I think Moz will be framing that dive profile

Neil, Didn't realize that was your first shutdown drill, seriously impressed

God knows what all the students a couple of metres above thought of the loon turning his own air off whilst been watched by 3 other divers thought

And about bloody time!!! ;)

No, seriously well in there.

You just need to pursuade Mr W to come to Stoney at the weekend and watch you in action!

Seriously worthy of some shiny's there.

When you up for a splash in the brine??
