| Loner at the ball... | Buddy/teammate needed for Tech 1 in Krabi, Thailand, Feb 7-12, 2006 Hi All, I have signed up to do Tech 1 with Gideon Liew (GUE Instuctor #50039, www.livingseas.com.sg) from February 7-12, 2006. The class is being organised by Glyn Evans of One Stop Dive Centre/Krabi Dive Supply and will take place in Krabi, Thailand. Glyn Evans can be contacted at glyn@krabidivesupply.com OR glyn@onestopdive.com for prices, info re accommodations in Krabi etc. I am looking for other divers who are interested in joining me in this class. There is a serious lack of DIR-F "certified" divers in Thailand but DIR diving is starting to become known... A bit about my diving history: PADI Rescue TDI basic nitrox/Drager Dolphin SCR DIR-F in 2005 (with Gideon Liew) and passed Total logged dives to date (20 Jan 2006): 314. Any interest, please contact Glyn Evans via e-mail (or PM me). If you are based in Singapore, please contact Gideon Liew at 65 6435-0433. Last edited by Vie; February 15th, 2006 at 05:35 AM. Reason: misspelt name of Glyn Evans' dive shop |

| Loner at the ball... | Well, right at the last minute (literally!), another diver signed up for the class - I couldn't have completed Tech 1 without the help and extreme patience of Greg, so I would like to thank him profusely here. I've just returned from Krabi and an intense two-week DIR extravaganza; buddying with the video guy during a "RecTriox to Tech 1 upgrade" classs (a chance for me to built up my experience diving with doubles), shooting the video for a Fundies class and going through Tech 1. I learnt so much, had a lot of fun and have seen the "bar" moved so high that I feel (at times) that it is almost beyond my reach. I will keep at it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Congratulations. How about a class/trip report? Is it easy to get helium in Krabi? How are the dive sites? Any nice deep stuff? I took my Tech 1 with Gideon in July 2004 and to date I think it is still the toughest thing I have done in my life. It was extremely challenging but a great learning experience and my diving is infintely better for it. |

Give me a few days - I need time to digest all the things that I've seen and learnt!Quote: (Originally Posted by sasdasdaf) Is it easy to get helium in Krabi? Yes, relatively; we got He from One Stop Dive Centre (aka Krabi Dive Supply) - very expensive though.Quote: (Originally Posted by sasdasdaf) How are the dive sites? The training sites (Ko Ya Wa Bon and Ko Ya Wa Sam) were so so...Quote: (Originally Posted by sasdasdaf) Any nice deep stuff? We did the training/experience dives at the King Cruiser wreck (relatively shallow on 30/30) and Ko Ha Yai (max. 46m on 21/35). You can push it to about 50m at Hin Daeng (which Greg and I did not have the opportunity to dive deep - I did two rec dives there whilst waiting for the "RecTriox to Tech 1 upgrade" guys to complete their experience dive) but you'll just be looking at sand.Quote: (Originally Posted by sasdasdaf) I took my Tech 1 with Gideon in July 2004 and to date I think it is still the toughest thing I have done in my life.
