Tech 1, Spring 2007, Plymouth

Hullo,

Myself and a buddy (James Duncan, jamesd on this board) are hoping to sign up with Andy Kerslake for a Tech 1 course next year. Originally we'd thought in terms of a course in November, but after some discussion that's not working out for our schedules and a course in spring 2007 is looking much better. I'm not sure how this would be worked out, but if possible we'd like to do it out of the Aquanauts school in Plymouth.

At the moment from our diving group there are only two of us interested in the Tech 1 course and others hoping to do fundamentals are either away for a lot of next year, more interested in cave classes, or only interested in rec diving at the moment. Having spoken with Andy Kerslake by phone he suggested posting here to see who else might be interested in doing the course to make up a team of three. James and I are presently London-based.

Nothing is as yet organised; I'm trying to get hold of AK by phone to ask about possible dates, and trying to get hold of Brian at Aquanauts to ask about running the course through his school.

Regards,

Tim

Great, thanks Brian. Hopefully I can get hold of Andy in the next few days and talk plans through with him to see if he approves.

He's on a boat off Ireland at the moment so you might want to wait until next week some time.

Thanks, that would indeed explain why he's not answering the phone. Sounds like a very sensible sort of place to be! I'll try again next week.

I'm with AK at the mo. Tim - and as GLOC rightly states we're in Ireland. Text him your mobile number on 07789 797460 and he'll get back to you next week.

Thanks, Clare and Andy! Clare - I've sent Andy K a text message with my number, Andy, thanks for PM, see email.

Having spoken with James D last night we're hoping to make it to one of the Stoney DIR-X days in November so can hopefully meet people, put names to faces, etc. then!

Thanks,

Tim

Quick update on this, I've spoken with Andy K about the course and although he was initially more in favour of trying to get the first part of the course done in November I explained that we had various logistic/financial reasons to prefer spring, plus then if (when!) there are things needing working on we have the summer and warmer water to do skills work! We're not under any particular time constraints to want to rush the course, and are happy to take as long as it needs to make a good thorough job of it.

Following on from this and from a quick discussion with James I think we're looking at April as our target month, probably earlier if possible. Brian, when would be good weekends tide-wise around then?

Cheers,

Tim

Not sure, haven't got 2007 table yet, but will sort one out and get back to you.
