Dear all,

My girlfirend and I are going to Croatia this summer, and we are looking in to the area around Split. I am a tech 2/cave 2-trained diver, and are looking for some hook ups in august. Nice if someone could point me into right direction for wreck diving/helium center.

Looking forward to hear from you all.

Can't help you with the area arround Split, but if you happen to move more north there is a very good dir friendly dive center on the east coast of Istria in a small port Krnica (.: Krnica DIVE).

They have plent of shallow wrecks and deeper wrecks on the menu. In the 35 - 40 m range on the west coast and 45 - 65+ on the east coast of Istria.

Take a look of their locations here.

All the best,
Rado

I'll probably be in Primosten (some 50 km north of Split) in August. A firend of mine runs diving center there. Although I can't say that he runs DIR operations he's capable of supplying appropriate mixes for Tech-2 dives.

I agree, I would go for Krnica diving. Been here last two weeks and did some very nice (wreck) diving. The owner, Maurizio, is GUE tech1 certified and knows what GUE divers want.

regards,

Edmund

It's very dependent on currents. Although currents are low (very often unnoticable) they affect visibility. In Istria region visibility can range from 5m (very bad) to 30m (and even more). In thread related to Edmund's diving few weeks ago Some GUE wreck diving in Croatia I posted picture of Argo (sunk at 45-48m) taken from 12m of depth - at that particular dive both parts of wreck could be seen during descent (distance between parts is some 80m).

However, if you go south visibily increases - island of Vis region experiences visibility of 30m and above.

Sorry to resurrect and old thread.

Does visibility vary predictably with season or tide or is it pretty random? Any idea what the vis/water temperature is likely to be around mid-April?

I can also recommend Krnica diving, ive been there this summer and had a really good time .
You should visit the wreck called "baron gauch" if the visibility is good, it was my best dive there.
