![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm not sure that it was a fixed/advertised itinary, AG and Faisal were keen to get us out to some awesome diving and so after the checkout dives, this included AG watching and filming S-Drills, Valve Drills etc and another day of spent in a shallowish and easy diving location (predomidantly to swim with the Dugong and the Turtles) we headed off to the Brothers for 3 days followed by Elphinstone for a Day, I think they were keen to get us into an area where there was a good choice of Tech dives, they succeeded [ ]These guys will go where ever you request, as mentioned previously, their only aim is to please and they were delighted to have so many GUE divers on board so went that extra mile.. When Andy Rick and Jenny went to do a two stage dive on the Numidia AG just passes them a bloody great big video rig and said, "Here you go you might as well film it".... that was the level of confidance he had in the divers and that was the sort of friendly (not for financial gain) service that we kept being hit with, with AG and Faisal it was like having two rich mates who owned a big boat and who got off on taking us places and blowing our minds. They would sit and plan things into the night, how they would approach the next day to give maximum fun for the guys and gals on board, remember we went from OW trainees to trimix divers and so the logistics and difficulties were spread but we had AG taking my wife for a 12m OW experience pootle not long after a trimix dive with Rob Dobson followed by a monkey dive with someone else, I'm sure they were both having as much fun as we were though... It just kept feeling like a bunch of mates all diving and having fun together, personally I think that was one of the things I liked most. |

Or maybe just going to the places that they thought would suit the group the best, seeing as we had OW students through to T1 teams on the boat...HTH (I've just seen that Dave beat me to it with a much better description of the approach of crew and the atmosphere created - nice one Mr Williams). | New Member | I'm going to the red sea later this week (northern wrecks). The 'Monkey' dives were strictly T-shirts and shorts. Most people seem to be in 5mm full length suits but some were in shorties and one of the guides and I were comfortable in our drysuits. From some of the photos it looks like you are in wetsuits? If so what thickness and were you warm enough? Richard The water was 27C. I am off to do the Northern wrecks on the 14th October and I'll be taking my drysuit again (but I really get cold easily). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | It was 29 degC, about 27-28 degC at 40/50m ish. We ranged from t-shirt and shorts, 3mm shorties, 3mm full body to Rob 'shivering like a whippet' Dobson in a drysuit. 5mm full body would've been too warm. Check some red sea water temperature websites - they're pretty accurate. If it's 24 degC or less I'd begin to think about a 5mm. Jen |
