New Apeks DS4 (Tek3) for twins

Apeks have a new type of DS4 (called the Tek3) in which the ports are on one side of the 1st stage (there's a left and right version of this). I doubt this is going to be much of interest to us (certainly not for me as I don't think hose routing will be significantly improved, if at all), but still, I thought of posting couple of links in case anyone hasn't got anything better to do!

If they sell it only in pair why so many LP ports? If it's supposed to be DIR choice and for doubles only, why HP port on right post? Another try to re-sell old product.

Seems like a solution looking for a problem...

As for multiple HP ports, they could be being aimed at people who dive Indy twins, in which case they would want more than one.

Don't understand why everybody seems so negative about these first stages.

I saw them on a D12 set some time ago and the hose routing looks very nice. The hoses bend much less than with the regular DS4 because the ports are angled out. This is hard to see on the pictures...

I hate the idea of having spare reg (e.g. left one) that I can use only as a left post for twins and that I can't use as right or deco/stage reg or single tank reg.

i still prefer to have my first stages all standard and not for a specific use. that way, they are interchangeable. i can use the same first stage for doubles, a single tank, or a stage/deco bottle. no headaches and changing out some hoses can save a dive.

While I don't think it's worth it if it costs appreciably more than a regular first stage, why would you want to use your backgas regulator as a deco/stage reg? If you're diving, then you need your backgas, and if you're diving single tank, then you can use your right post, right?

On a similar note, I hear arguments about titanium regulators not ok even for backgas because it can't be used for deco bottles. So if you use your backgas regulator for deco, then what do you use for backgas??
