scubazach is on a distinguished road

Hello!

I dive dry and have a weighted Halcyon STA and SS plate along with a steel 100cu ft. tank. I dive salt and fresh. However, I need a bit more weight. My question is this, can I use a small weight pockets (XS scuba type) on the waist belt up against the plate (this way I can remove it if needed) or should I put them on the cam straps. I know I can use a regular weightbelt which I find uncomfortable -which is why I am looking for other options.

Thanks for the input -
Zach

I would inclined to try both! See which one doesn't affect your trim and stick with that. In the past I have put a seperate camband on the single cylinder just for the purpose of mounting the lead blocks with the blocks as close to the BP as possible. You can then move it up and down the cylinder as required until you get your trim sorted.

Regards

Now that my kit is a bit tidier and I am currently not using a weightbelt I was having a look at trim weight pockets last night for holidays.

Does anyone use these - are they any good and is there a less expensive version other than the Halcyon ones.

I use them on holiday, I really like them although some dive guides get a little excited about you not having a weight belt. I find I only need a couple of kilos when wet-suit diving on holiday so it's ideal. I've got the H ones, they're not bad although the velcro is, in it's usual fashion, tearing up the soft edging tape they've used. There are some instructions about somewhere on DIY weight pockets, although I'm not sure you do DIY?

I believe John Kendall & the Cambridge club are keen users as well.

I used a couple of Bowstone weight pockets attached to the STA camband:

Weight Systems - Weight Pocket

This worked OK in the Red Sea - and I might try them when diving singles in the UK.

Dive-rite sell them and SeaQuest (Aqualung) sell them as spares for their Diva jackets, the cam-band is the smae width as on your wing so they should work fine

Darn websites, can't see anything on the Aqualand one and the Dive-rite site seems to be down. How to these people expect to sell anything without pictures.

Nope. We just put lead straight onto cambands. Then use a small weightbelt. I really don't like the ACB pockets and you don't really need trim pockets

I guess I wondered if putting the weights on the cambands effected the fit on the cylinder at all.
