![]() ![]() ![]() | Tail Weight Hi guys - I'm perfectly familiar with V-weights, P-weights etc and am aware of the notion of a tail weight & what it's purpose is but, never having seen one, I obviously can't picture what they look like or exactly where they attach etc. Would anybody care to indulge me with a description or, better still, a photo? Any guidelines on a ballpark size tail weight to trim out 12L faber doubles - or is that a case of go & buy some Euro cylinders & save yourself the hassle?:-) TIA Paul

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Another option I found is a (I think it's a beaver) trim weight. I've got a 2Kg one that is a rectangular bag of shot with a loop of webbing on one side to attach to a cam band, but more usefully it has two eyelets at either end. It's not as nice as a v-shaped weight to hang off the bottom bolt, but it fits, it was in the shop when I was messing about - and hey, it's black ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Thanks Thanks for taking the time to reply guys. So, basically, it's just a bit of a V-weight which attaches to the lower bolt of the doubles bands (& below/above the lower bands ie lower than the lower bands or between the bands) which, obviously, gives a counter weight to the slightly neck heavy Fabers to facilitate good trim. Of course, there are variations on this theme (pouches etc) which have the same effect, however, all in all, the tail-weight is all part of your non-ditchable ballast. Presumably (thinking out loud as it were), given where the weight ends up positioned with a tail weight, then (moving) some weight on to a belt (within the override of the total weight requirement) would achieve almost the same purpose?

Pretty close, yup - so just becomes a question of whether you want it on the belt or not. |
