![]() | Mares Volo Power Hello all, I currently have SP Twin Speeds which, obviously, don't fall into line with the DIR recommendations, although I have found them most comfortable on gentle recreation dives in the Red Sea, wearing a wetsuit. I already feel the need for another set for my UK, drysuit, diving. I was wondering which fins are generally used and/or recommended. I am looking at a 2nd hand set of Mares Volo Powers (slightly different to those on Mares website), any opinions on these ? I tend to find the twin speeds quite long although the volo blades length, 39cm/15.5 inches, doesn't appear much shorter. |

GUE say this: I fully appreciate they should not be split, but why JetFins ?I'm not that up on the different types of fins but the jetfins I've seen are all pretty short with no give at all. Is frog kick finning easier/better with these and what benefits do we lose with such rigid fins ? |

I can now almost reliably fin backwards, turns are easier and you can really generate some "oomph!" when required. Downsides - heavier to pack, and you need the leg muscles to use them! Dom |

![]() | Thanks. Makes perfect sense. I reckon my legs are my strongest area so I'll assume I'll be able to use them effectively.I'll leave the Volos then and investigate the Jetfins. This may sound a bit daft but, having looked at quite a few online dive stores, it seems there aren't any jet fins made for less than size 7/M ![]() From what I can tell SP and N Diver only go from to M (7/8), Turtle only do fins for 'man-sized' feet and the only other jetfins I found, "Rubber Rocket Fins" at the bargain price of £25.50 are XXL ![]() Am I going to be able to find any jetfins for a standard size 5 (perhaps S) or does the size M(7-9) already account for dry suit boots and, if so, are those DUI rock boots rather than the usual dry suit boot/foot? Feeling most frustrated. I know there are more men than women in diving but surely DIR wouldn't discriminate against 'girly-sized' feet ![]() Last edited by Sixsquid; February 11th, 2006 at 04:42 PM. |

| GUE Instructor Site Admin | Hi - I'm a size 5 foot and wear extra large jetfins - sizing is unreliable. Try some for size but if you are between a size 5 and size 8 you'll end up in extra large (unless you own an O2 drysuit in which case they may not be big enough!).

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | As with the twins, you're welcome to try my JetFins (I've got Scubapros). If you can't wait until I get back, have a word with my brother and he might bring them down to the club for you to try.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have size 9 feet but even the extra large jet fins wont fit over my 03 dry suit boots. As a result i have to use Turtle fins. Very manouverable and excelent for flutter kick but much lighter than the Avanti Quatroes and a lot less powerful. ATB Mark Chase

Hi, size XL are the right ones. Spring straps come in a variety of lengths so you should be able to get some that will make the fins fit properly.I have an O'Three suit (and a TLS) and the neoprene boots fit in my XL ScubaPro jetfins no problem. DUI rock boots are too big for the XL foot pockets. People normaly substitute the rock boots for wetsuit booties or replace them completely with turbo soles. Regards, Mark. |
