| 20% Ninja 80% Rebel | Hi all, Well, I have a pair of DIRZone pockets courtesy of our resident kitwh0re, a chalk-marked and emery papered drysuit, a 250ml pot of Bostick and hardener, and a very nervous me! How much glue should I prepare? About half of the pot for each pocket? I have located the pockets by putting my suit on, then placing the pockets on the outside of the thigh so my fingers [I[just[/I] touch the bottom, but it seems a little high as the crotch seam of my suit is behind the pocket area making getting the area flat a little tricky. Am I on the right track before I kill my suit? ![]() Dom |

| Moderator and aka Mavis | I had the same issue with the same pockets. Tips I've got.... I used half the pot for both pockets, worked out at the right amount. No matter how tidy you try to be with the marking out of the lines, you will get some white showing when the glue dries - I think you can remove it but don't know the stuff. I used 3 layers of glue, 2 allowed to dry, the final one was touch dry (tacky) and then pushed them together and used a flat blunt edge to press them together. Don't have the pockets so high that you can touch the bottom of them, having them that high means that if you use a pouch weight belt you can't open the pockets (from experience) and the canister might also interfere with the opening of the pocket too. Hope you have fun...my new suit is coming with pockets fitted! However, I am not looking forward to putting the hole through it for the p-valve! Regards Gareth |

| 20% Ninja 80% Rebel | Well, following Gareth's advice on where I was planning to put my pockets and consulting the the DUI manual I found on the web, I have got a pocket sitting on my suit. I am mildly blurry from the glue, but three coats of glue later, I applied the pocket, rolled with a handy tin of sweetcorn (no added sugar - of course), then applied the weight of my collection of weights and my cylinder on top of a heavy DIY manual (this is the only DIY it's ever seen!) Tomorrow I find out if I have been successful. Dom |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Dom, is the manual you mention the DUI Drysuit Repair and Maintenance Manual? This is what I have at the moment. The manual talks about putting the glue in a 1 inch band around the back of the pocket (and in same place on suit), is this what you did, or did you put glue on the whole of the back of the pocket? Where'd you get the glue from?

They stick RHIBs together with it.. nuff said.when I did mine, I did the same as gareth, two coats on, then a final one and left til tacky - then attach. I used as much glue as I could spare per pocket. around the edge, then a big X across the middle.

I found it quite useful, although I did end up with the pockets slightly too low (but only about 1")I used three coats - the first covered the whole area to be glued, the second and third were 1" bands with an X. I used Bostik 2402 from Lomo Wetsuits I ended up using about 1/4 of the pot per pocket - and get a couple of cheap brushes to apply with, it makes life much easier. Dom |

| Sorry for being a dick | i'm about to mark some pocket up on my suit before sending them away for fitting (I'm too scared) and want to make sure i get then in the right spot. So..... Fingers just about touching the bottom and right on the very outside of the thigh? I'm hopefully going to get O'Three to fit some of their pockets on (It's an O'Three semi-dry) any views on their velcro pockets or are there others i should be considering?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I just read this thread (literally) after fitting a pocket on my drysuit! I have a Polar Bear Trilaminate, the pocket on the left is in the right position for me so I put the new right pocket in the same place (on the right side of course!). I have just used "Stormsure", it says apply and stick, so I have. I then covered the pocket in cling film before stacking books on it. Will this work? I have no idea!!! Tomorrow will tell. |
