![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have a grand plan that involves turning my two single 12s into a set of twins. I've spoken to a few folks about it and have now got the manifold and bands, so I'm good to go... ...trouble is I think I'm bottling it! It sounded easy enough, but reading a few bits about the process I'm doubting whether I should try it first on my own! So, some advice please - is it really as straight forward as I first thought (and can I do it with basic tools: spanner and hammer ) or should I see if there is a kindly soul in the Yorkshire region with some spare time next week ![]() |

| Padawan learner | the hardest part od building up a twinset is getting the old valves off first.

| GUE Instructor Site Admin | You have checked that the two cylinders are matched, haven't you (weight wise). Sure you will have thought of this - but for anyone else considering twinning up it's worth a thought ![]()

Are they the same:-Sure you will have thought of this - but for anyone else considering twinning up it's worth a thought ![]() weight, height, diameter, and most important the same thread in the neck, and does it match your manifold thread:- hopefully M25 x 2mm pitch; older cylinders could well be G3/4" and American ones could be their version of a 3/4" parallel gas thread which while the same pitch as ours is different on dia, which with one of the combinations of valve/bottle gives you something that CAN be assembled but will blow apart under pressure :-( .When you have ALL your bits and are passing to Capernwray why don't you drop in for a chat and a build-up of your twins: phone first, I work from home but SWMBO might have me occupied doing her priority work.... ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've just thought of another Q that might have been missed: Have you got the two bottle/pillar valve O-rings AND in the right quality of rubber ie O2 compatable? I made a tool a while back that clamps the pillar valve and when tightened up will not slip off: one quick whack on the tool with a copper hammer (sounds painful or what) and hey presto two bottles without pillar valves. Are you currently O2 clean and was the manifold bought O2 clean and suitably wrapped to maintain that clean state? Give me a pm if you want help; so I can ensure I'm in:- working hours upto midnight and weekends are only by negociation. Cheers Brian C ![]() |
