![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Looks like a great product. that is an important question. I have used a similar product, and the loop left the reg dangling at the top of my sternum, not a huge problem in itself - ignoring for a moment the deviation from DIR standards - but when the reg was in my mouth, the buoyant nature of the neckalce combined with it's length made it float off of my head. How long is the loop? So another question would be "are the necklaces buoyant" On the subject of breakaway necklaces I had heard that this was the new standard, and that cabletie-ing the necklace on was now deprecated after instances of the mouthpiece being pulled away from the reg body because the necklace would not yield - there are threads on this topic somewhere on this board. Really? I've never heard about that change.BTW I don't see anything revolutionary in this product - I had something almost identical three or four years ago and left it after few dives: - the lenght was fixed (and of course it was too long) - breakaway connection was working too good - it was comming off when not expected - it was not strong enough comparing to bungie |

Depends on how you ziptie them on. I use this method but I don't have a knot in the end of the bungee and I have 2 sets of zipties, one for the mouthpiece and one for the bungee. I have also tested to make sure that I can pull the backup reg off the bungee if someone really needs that reg and needs to buddy share. Ask Al about this one from one of his training dives Toby ![]()

![]() | So another question would be "are the necklaces buoyant" They are negatively buoyant.Quote: On the subject of breakaway necklaces I had heard that this was the new standard, and that cabletie-ing the necklace on was now deprecated after instances of the mouthpiece being pulled away from the reg body because the necklace would not yield - there are threads on this topic somewhere on this board. On Peter Steinhoff site it says: "The cord or surgical tubing is put under the same tie wrap as the mouthpiece on the second stage." (emphasis not mine)Toby If this has changed, then it's not a recent change: gue.com/Training/ProceduralChanges/index.html |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | They are negatively buoyant. Always happy to get clarification. I tracked down the thread that I was thinking ofOn Peter Steinhoff site it says: "The cord or surgical tubing is put under the same tie wrap as the mouthpiece on the second stage." (emphasis not mine) If this has changed, then it's not a recent change: gue.com/Training/ProceduralChanges/index.html Necklace knots/pics It's just an indirect quote attributed to AK so far from official gospel. BTW - I think the phrase "a good yank," in the post, refers to "a strong pull" rather than "an accomplished American diver."
