Hello everyone,

I've been diving with a twinset and wing (Dive Rite Rec) now for a fair while and I love it. In fact, I liked it so much when I first started that I sold my old Cressi BCD.

However, I now find myself going on some rib diving trips over the summer. I don't want to take my twins on the trips - they're just too awkward to handle in a small rib. But I DO want to keep using my harness and all the other kit.

So, can you recommend me a single-tank wing?

Obviously one of the smaller Halcyon ones would be ideal, but they're a bit pricy for me. What other options should I consider?

Bonus points if anyone has one they want to sell me!

Cheers,
Owen

I recommend Agir Blackbird 36. After 2 years of extensive usage mainly in sold water it's looks nearly like new one. Very similar to Halcyon Eclipse (I used Eclipse 30 before) but better quality of workmanship. Additional 6lb of lift is useful is you're using thick wetsuit.

Have a look at the Frog Indigo at about £217, for the same price Hollis do a 25lb single wing. Have a look at the Divelife website, they have a range of wings to check out.

Thanks Rob and Fiona. I will have a look at those.

Has anybody got any experience of these EXD wings (here)? I've been offered the single tank one (13.5kg lift) for £140. It looks pretty similar to the eclipse, i.e. donut shape.

I have just looked at the one JW is selling on YD, it looks a perfectly good single wing, although I haven't heard of the brand. Although I have just noticed the kidney dump is on the opposite to mine - if that is important

Deep Sea Supply also make excellent wings. Their dealers in Europe are listed on their website. They have a system that makes a single tank adapter unnecessary.

I started out diving with a Halcyon pioneer 36. It doesn't have the holes for the tank bands, so I used the STA. But still like this wing a lot.

Look around on e-bay and other 2nd hand sites. It seems there are a lot of wings floating around. When I moved to double 7 recently i found a very nice evolve stealth edition at a good price for an excellent wing.

Hmmm. Not sure. Mine is on the left at the moment. I'm used to it being there. So I'm pretty sure that I'd end up automatically reaching for the wrong side occasionally if I had one setup with it on one side, and one on the other. Maybe I'll pass on that one.

Check out the Agir Blackbird 28. Its a very nice and small singlewing. I use it up to 12L 300bar with no problem with lift. Greate for diving-trips!
