![]() | The suit I am using now has the autodump positioned over my bicep. This is a sub optimal position for horizontal ascents. I am thinking of having a dump fitted between bicep and tricep and a little closer to the elbow than normal. When horizontal this should be in the correct place. Am I right? I have read some concerns that this position wouldn't allow the suit to hold any air at all. But surely the suit will only dump when the pressure inside is greater than the pressure of the surrounding water. What do you think? |

I think the pressure inside the suit is always equal to the pressure outside under diving conditions and that a valve in the fully or nearly fully opened state will dump whenever it is above an air-bubbleI am thinking of having a dump fitted between bicep and tricep and a little closer to the elbow than normal. ![]() | Thanks , I have had a read of that thread just now. So, basically, if the dump valve is the highest point in the suit, and it is open fully, it will allow all of the gas to escape. This wouldn't be ideal. So I need a position where it is not the highest point unless I want it to be, and I can make it the highest point easily. Towards the tricep on the right arm might be a good place. |

Most people have it on the left, for which reason I do not know but I do know that if you ever get to scootering, dumping from the right arm and scootering will be something very interesting to watch So, basically, if the dump valve is the highest point in the suit, and it is open fully, it will allow all of the gas to escape. This was on the gavinscooters list, I'll dig it outMovie is here: http://www.hogarthian.pl/galerie/pac...nnie_casey.mov rob Found it In response to a question about having on the right arm, someone answered Quote: (Originally Posted by gavinscooterslist) > Its so you can get to the dump valve when your hands on the trigger. And Casey's reply to this was> Pretty standard with long range diving on a motor I thought. Quote: (Originally Posted by Casey) > Correct assumption.
