Storing HID canister

Hi
I have question regarding storing HID (Salvo Havoc, Halcyon Explorer) canister for long time (>1month). Should I leave it open or closed ? Of course I always disconnecting battery from light head electronics.

I've done this before - it seemed to work when I shipped my dive gear by sea during a relocation.

1) Remove batteries from canister and store in a separate bag
Afterall leaks and off-gassing create their own problems..

2) Remove O-Ring and store
I usually put a grease barrier on an o-ring if I am storing it for a long time

3) place canister in dark, dry location
I try to keep the electronics dry - usually by leaving the lid closed and throwing a silica gel sachet in the canister.. i used about 4 sachets in the sea shipment - no visible corrosion from the sea air.

Good luck...

although it's always painful to put the gear away for so long - I hope it doesn't mean no diving in that period!

Keri, thanks for instructions

Just storing some unused gear, replaced by new gear. Finally probably best way will be put it on eBay...

Sorry... didn't mean to sound like a school teacher...

I guess I've been writing to many step-by-step procedures at work recently..

Anyway - good lick with the kit - shame to sell it but we all move on..

I understand this might be advisable for shipping, but I always store mine with the lid off but leave the battery in the canister. Surely that is enough. I store the complete torch in a dry box. I won't be using mine for about 3 - 4 months either.

you might want to charge the battery at some point, rather than just leaving it...

if it was mine I would turn in on once a month or use a charger that discharges and charges in a cycle. Battery will like that :-)
