Hoses freeflowin“

Hi there,

Recently I have purchased 2 inflator hoses for my drysuit from GO DIVING BELGIUM. When I was ready to jump in I open the valve from my drysuit tank and then I hear that FSSSSSSSHHHH sound; well, nevermind, after all I“ve got the another brand new hose, 3“to substituite them and now ......... get another FSSSSSSSHHHHH, so the two brand new hoses are useless.

Although I send an emabil to GO DIVING BELGIUM and there is no answer I would like to know if there is a way to fix or repair that.

PD. THIS HAVE BEEN HAPPEN TO ME BEFORE WITH HALCYON HOSES, this it“s why decided to get from another brands.

Best

Where are they leaking? If they are leaking out the Quick Disconnect fitting, the most likley cause is a loose Schrader (tire valve) Core.

You need a longish valve core tool to snug it up. If that doesn't work you might try a new scharder core, they are common and inexpensive, virtually all auto tires use them and so do many bike inner tubes.

If the hose is leaking aorund a crimp you need a new hose.

We purchase the plated brass hose ends in bulk, with the Schrader Valve Core already installed. We had a few cases where the core was not snuggly torqued, now we check and tighten every one.

Good luck,

Tobin

If it leaks when it is not connected to the drysuit nipple it's almost certainly the schrader valve.

If it leaks when it's connected to the nipple it could be the oring as you mention. Easy to differentiate.

Hello Tobin,

Please can you show what a "longish valve core tool to snug it up" looks like?

Thank you.

Have you ever removed the core from an auto tire valve? It requires a "valve core tool" To access the schrader valve in the end of a hose QD you need the same tool, only it needs a longer "stem" on it.

Take your hoses to an auto tire shop. They will have what you need.

Here you go:
EELD302A4, Tool, Removal/Installation, Schrader Valve Core, Dual Size

A shop that deals with mountain bikes will usually have them.

cheers,
Paul

K Ripley is on a distinguished road

Here's a couple of quick shots of the Snap-On Tools shraedar valve tool. The shaft of this tool is 5 cm long where most cheap auto or bike shop tools only have a shaft that's 1 cm long and may not go deep enough into the hose end to grab the valve core.

Sorry about the crap resolution and lighting, I just used a webcam on my workbench for a couple of quick shots.
