![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Drysuits setup and Non-US aviation Yes, flying in/out USA and flying business/1st ![]() ..it is less restrictive with weightlimits. and sure, plans may need to be adjusted to the nature of destination at times, but still, I wonder, there might be some recognizable "regular" approach as this poll becomes crowded? Thanks for voting/ explaining posts! Hoffi Last edited by nskdrs; April 17th, 2008 at 12:02 PM. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Not sure where your question points to, but I'd say, 100% drysuitdependent ( Whatever that means, see other threads )or maybe: I'm dreaming of becoming GUE Tech3 Instructor, want to travel the planet into dust but before I decide, I want to know what the celebs and the plebs have as regular practice besides flying 1st. |

![]() | Say who with the what now? I think this is..." If you are flying to a dive site, and you are taking a dry suit, how do you manage the risk that the seals will tear? " Take 2 suits? Take spare zip seals? 1 suit and a repair pack? ... Zip seals seem like a perfect idea for issues like this but for the average diver how often does the problem arise? |

| Pinoy ako pinoy | At least in MX you can get a seal repaired pretty fast (overnight). That's a significant mitigating factor. there is no category for send one of your three suits to DUI first and fed ex the one of the others to the dive destination along with another bunch of shit i can't be bothered to carry ![]()

![]() ![]() | I carry a suit with spare zip seals. I've tried carrying two suits, but with all the extra equipment I take for lighting and video etc, flying with two suits just isn't practical. Before zip seals, I used to carry a bicycle inner tube patching kit. They sell for about $1 at Canadian Tire. Sometimes you can get just a pinhole puncture or small rip in a seal, and the repair kit will fix it in seconds and the repair can be dived immediately. It has saved losing a day's diving while on a trip more than once. Last edited by se2schul; April 18th, 2008 at 05:00 PM. |

| New Member | We had a student in Tokyo get a torn neck seal as we were about to enter the water for the experience portion of a Tech 1 class. As it was a fixed latex seal he couldn't swap it out so he tried to tape it up with duct tape. Needless to say, that didn't work very well and I imagine he was quite cold in the 63 degree water. I heard he had a second suit shipped to him from his home overnight in time for the second day's dives. This was the day I had to use helium as a suit-inflation gas (forgot to get an argon bottle). Er, really bad idea... But you've gotta try everything once to say you did, right?

As it was a fixed latex seal he couldn't swap it out so he tried to tape it up with duct tape. I did that while diving in Norway ( 12-5deg water ) worked like a charm, replaced the duct tape with aquasure for the second dive, ok i did not tore the seal, just ripped a hole in it.Needless to say, that didn't work very well and I imagine he was quite cold in the 63 degree water. I heard he had a second suit shipped to him from his home overnight in time for the second day's dives. now I either bring 2 suits, or bring seals and glue.
