DUI TLS 350 Cost

Hi All

There has been much debate on here about the cost of a TLS 350 but I've tried searching, unsuccessfully, to try and find out how much we are actually talking about.

Can someone let me know how much a TLS 350 with all the DIR trimings (Cave cut etc) actually costs in the UK.

Thanks in advance

Ian

Hi Ian,

It basically depends on the options...

A basic TLS350 without pockets or overlays costs ~1800 Euros. An explorer version (below pockets, old zipper, overlay) in stock size ~2200 Euros. If you do not fit a stock size, you add ~ 300 Euros for a made to measure. Note that the "explorer" version is only available for Europeans customers.

You may also consider a CLX450... which has exactly the same cut and mobility. Fitted with below pockets it is perfect, and more robust than the TLS350 for wreck diving. I dove both the TLS350 and the CLX450. I prefer the CLX for the bullet-proof construction. What I miss is the fact that the TLS350 dries very quickly after the dive. The CLX takes about 2 times longer.

If you don't know what to choose, buy both.

Kind regards.

Cyrille

The reason that you won't find straightforwrad pricing on TLS 350 suits on here is that there is no such thing as straightforward DIR specification. There are various options you can have which add to the price.

I don't recognise the pricing stucture advertsied by Cyrille above. As the dealer in the UK who does the DIR spec suits for hydrotech, I'm happy to talk to you to find out what it is you would like and price accordingly.

Hi Clare,

I am just a ... customer, that's more or less the price we pay (incl. BTW = VAT) in the Netherlands for DUI suits. But you're right there is no simple answer because it all depends on the (many) options available, plus possible MTM.

One thing is for sure: the DUI dry suits are "Premium" dive suits... or dive suits with a premium.

Kind regards.

Maby this is what's creating the confusion;
In addition to the 'Select' and 'Special production' version of the TLS Explorer the central European (+ Scandinavia) distributor also offer 'Standard/Stock size' TLS Explorer in Mens sizes M, L and XL. 'Standard/Stock' meaning that they're buying 5pc at the time from DUI. (5pc of each different size and with identical spec's). If you buy 5pc of 'whatever' from DUI that has 100% identical size and specs they will price the product lower.
The custommer can't change anything on those suits (like Turbosole size, overlay color, type of exhaust valve or any other type of alteration).
-------

Apparantly there's a request for that type of product.
Personally I much rather prefer the extended sizing that you get with 'Select' versions of the suit together with individually sized shoes to fit the custommers feet, type/color overlay, and the other options that you get with the 'Select' version.
Or if none of the 15 different Men and 12 different Women sizes that you get with the 'Select' fits well, go for the Special Production which is made to measure +++.

The suggested retail prices (including 19% VAT) for the 3 different TLS Explorer suits in the area that distributor sells;
TLS Explorer 'Stock' - EUR 2.701,-
TLS Explorer 'Select' - EUR 2.815,-
TLS Explorer 'Special production' - EUR 3.084,-

(What's the suggested retail price for a TLS Explorer - Special production in UK?)

Personally I'd rather buy a plain TLS350 'Select' with turbosoles, Halcyon Exploration bellows pockets, Halcyon P-valve and none of the additional fancy stuff on the suit.

Best,
Fredrik

Wow, not to hijack the thread but a signature series TLS with all the goodies costs in the ballpark of $2500-2800 CAD after taxes. Of special note is that 1 CAD = 0.62 Euros. Interesting how DUI has the different DS classifications for its European vs. North American customers.

Probably EU dealers haven't noticed drop of $ comparing to € For the info, two years ago I paid €1850 (VAT included) for TLS350 Explorer Series (stock size), which is basicaly cave-cut, turbo soles, DUI pockets, some cordura and CF200 crotch area.

That sounds like the spec's for a DUI TLS 'Maximum mobillity' suit.
Suggested 'continental EU' retail price for a stock size Max mob is EUR 2.377,- (including 19% VAT)
(Not sure what you mean by 'stock size' and 'cave cut' in the same sentence?).
Since two years ago DUI has adjusted their North American price list two times by approx 3-5% each time.

Some of the price difference can probably be explained by customs. I belive the EU distributor pays something like a 12% customs fee. Afaik they also 'bought' USD for the next 6 months late last year before the USD really tanked against the Euro and other European currencies. Which is a fairly common practise for many companies that are buying in one currency and selling in a different. Benefit being that it adds stabillity, downside being that sometimes it works as a 'bad bet'. That would explain some of the difference.

If you think along the lines of 'consumer purchasing power' I belive that will even out some of the nominal price difference. Not really a good argument in 2008, but it wouldn't suprise me if there were still some 'left overs' with that kind of thinking from earlier years.

Regardless of that, you'll probably find retailers and custommers who wouldn't mind if the European prices were some what closer to the North American prices.

Best,
Fredrik

Tls 350

Yeah, I paid about $2300 USD for mine.

It's a cave cut, Signature Series TLS 350 with DUI bellows pockets, zip seals, Sytek valves, and turbo soles. It came with 100 and 300 weight fleeces, bags and DUI hood.

It took about 2 months from order to shipping. And, unfortunately, another 2 months to actually get here because of a mix up with the international shipping.
