![]() | Torches Salvo Havoc vs Halycon Explorer OK, I have now sold my old (SARTEK 10WAtt HID) torch and am in the market for a new one. Out of the equation are & with my reasons (correct me if I am wrong..): Greenforce: Not focusable HID and poor goodman handle design, (could solve goodman handle issue with use of kenttooling handle however still leaves the non focus issue. Solus: Lack of HID Focus. Metasub: Not a canister battery SARTEK: No UK Dealer. SALVO: Salvo 35 Watt (Potentially too bright for cave use? & I plan to start cave training in 2009) Thus my research so far brings me down to two products. Halycon Explorer 9 / 18W HID FOR: Great Battery Design, attachment to Torch, High Quality Charger. Good Switch Design , anti flood design. Against: Price (Approx £895) , Huge Torch head with ballast Vs Salvo Havoc 10.4 Amp Li-Ion 21 Watt Remote Head HID FOR: Price Approx £820 - Any Discount Phil Offers for his Birthday month Id Guess around £750 If I sweet Talk Phil. Against: Cheap Battery Charger design and traditional battery molex connectors. Help? Now I understand every electronic device has a history of rogue units being suceptable to problems. Can anybody give me any more torch options or any real soap box reasons why I should or should not buy one of these products? Is the Halcyon worth the difference in price? I would rather get this right and am willing to spend the extra money if it is the right choice. I actually havent seen a salvo in the flesh and have only played with the Halcyon at LIDS this weekend. Dealer support? Warranty? Ease of use i.e focus beam and locking focus? Please when replying can you state the following: If you are a dealer of any of these products and what one's if any you own or have owned in the past? If you have switched from one to another can you let me know yoru reasons too? Cheers & thanks in advance. Davie. Last edited by TheHappyChappy; March 10th, 2008 at 04:26 PM. Reason: Torch Titles round the wrong way. |

| Moderator | I think what Andy was trying to say is that there are plenty of threads concerning this matter already on DIRx and only requires a little use of the search engine to get what you need. However, the bottom line is the torches are almost identical and the service is normally very good from both Halcyon and Salvo dealers. You takes your choice.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A Salvo -halcyon light debate ......a Extremely painful experience only beaten by a Mark Chase deco/CCR argument I wish that you would just get off the fence and tell us how you really feel. The Offshore anger seems to have come early induced by kitchen tensions no doubt!!Roll over GI3!!!!!! |

The first "help" is to point out that you have the titles to these 2 round the wrong way! second - Buy the Halcyon the price difference is tiny when you look at what you are getting for the additional £'s regards David
