![]() ![]() ![]() | How to tie backup torch boltsnap OK, you lot will know this inside out, but is there a decent diagram and step by step don't cock it up Digger page somewhere on how to tie a boltsnap onto a backup torch properly? Finally a cable tie failed last weekend (not mine, I hasten to add) and I can see the merits of tying the things on, but just need to be bothered. And with the weather how it is this afternoon I might as well get enthusiastic about something. TIA. Digs. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Cor, feck me that's quite good. Just did my primary light and it's actually going to make life a bit easier. I can tell. It's properly rigid now, before it felt rigid but if you overdo it with the cable tie it will snap. Now it's the daddy. God I wish I didn't discover such basic stuff all the time. I've used fairly thick cave line, and it seems just how I want it. Any reason I should be using the girly thin stuff? I can see I'll have to use the girly stuff on the backup lights because the hole in the back is quite small, but for stuff like the goodman handle it seems ideal. Digs. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Problem is I was put off the idea when someone else tied a boltsnap on my goodman handle and cocked it up, and put a note on it saying "you should do it like this" after cutting off the cable tie. Trouble is it wasn't done right and worked loose, so was a waste of time. I assumed that was the right way of doing things, which it wasn't. Obviously. And it's still rigid now. Very nice. I'm going to do all of Jen's gear as well, she'll hate me for interfering but this is quite good fun. I think I could remove cable ties from my gear completely if I worked at it! Digs. |

| New Member | The only thing I find is you have to keep checking the boltsnap on the goodman handle. It gets quite a lot of twisting pressure applied to it and eventually the cave line starts to wear through. If you don't replace it you can kiss goodbye to that shiney boltsnap. All the others seem fine though (spg, backup lights, primary reg etc.) Is it just me that this happens to? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | This is tied on with hardcore cave line. It's the thicker gauge which I took off my reel because it was restricting how much line i could get on there quite a lot. I have no worry that it's ever going to get worn through or come undone. But on the lights I will use the thinner stuff. Digs. |
