Bolts on AGIR bands seem too short??!!

The Set up: Faber 12L (x2), Agir bands, SS BP, 40lb Explorer

Then I added a new Halcyon V weight (type secured by the bolts)

The problem: The bolts seem about 2cm short once the rig is assmembled (they are the 12cm bolts, and only just come level with the BP eyelets)

The only thing I can think of is the circumference of the tank? The tanks have 13.5kg stamped on them, did they produce a tank with a thicker wall?
No problem to get longer threads cut, but want to make sure I havn't missed somthing
Suggestions on a postcard please
James

Hi James

I had a similar issue when I bought one of those weights, V / P which ever they are, can't remember which set I tried them on I have a set with Agir bands and a set with Highland Mills bands.

In the end I went for a different option and decided on a tail weight and the smaller V weights which just slot in between the cylinders.

I think that slot in weights will be the way forward (3Kgs is fine). Just strange that 2 separate Halcyon dealers have told me the weight will fit Ho hum, will pop down to see them today with the rig. Just more stuff to sort before the weekend!

Hi James,

Not only. If you have a look on to this plans, you shall understand:

The issue is the small 3mm plates welded on the bands (reinforcement with hole). They totally may change the geometry. Take distances between both plates and small plates width.

For example, some brands of bands uses 30mm wide plates and other uses 15mm for the same tanks. Lets compare the squared reinforcements on these both bands:

Using narrow plates (mean squared reinforcements) the band need to be a bit longer for the same tank. It means that the distance beetween both reinforcements is smaller (and the size of thread should be also smaller.

For example, for the same tanks (S080s) some bands need longer screws. Backplate geometry also affects.

For Fabers 12 (171mm outter dia) and the same plates some of us use 125mm and other uses 140mm screws, depending on strap thickness, V weights, etc.
