O2 Cleaning

Following on from an earlier thread a few months ago, I've just completed the TDI O2 Service Technician Course this week.

The course was run by Neil from Bristol Channel Diving and extended well past the basic content of the TDI course over 3 very busy but productive days.

Majority of the time spent in the workshop not the classroom giving loads of exposure to different makes and types of regs, cylinders etc.

With only one other person on the course you couldn't have asked for a better environment to learn from the wealth of knowledge that Neil has to impart.

Even if you don't want to service your own regs, the understanding gained will help a lot in just keeping them in tune and handling smaller problems between services.

An excellent course overall and one I'd reccomend if you want to know more about O2 handling, cleaning and reg servicing.

Hi Mark, it sounds like you got a lot out of it! I tried to search for the course here but came up blank . Does it qualify you to service anything or is it purely for your personal use? Rob

Regard it as purely for your own personal benefit, if you want to get involved in doing this professionally then you'll need the manufacturer provided courses that you'll only get access to through employment in the industry.

For learning how to take care of my own equipment it has more than served its purpose.

Have a look at the bottom of the page here for more details :

Neil's place was my LDS when I was working in Cardiff - I wish it was still my LDS...

Will have to give some serious thought to doing this course over the winter.

Neil's a top bloke and 3 days in his company doing anything is 3 days well-spent in my opinion.

Tootricky and I did our Advanced Gas Blending course with Neil and he really is a mine of information - some of it useful
