This thread is dangerous and should be immediately deleted, as we all know 200 pounds is the internationally recognised cost of all equipment, any one item or any collection of items.

I think it’s rule 12

The only lasting solution is to get your better half to dive as well so they need the kit as well! Othervise you'll have to wait long to find that scooter for 200 puonds/dollars/euro or face the consequences...

I cost out my equipment in DCU's (Diving Cost Units ~= to €300.00)

1 Stage Regulator with mineral SPG = 1 DCU
Regulators for Doubles = 2 DCU's
Set of Doubles with Bands = 2 DCU's
Argon setup with regulator and tank = 1 DCU
1 weeks Hotel bill while diving = 1 DCU
Drive to the Lot and back for cavediving = 1 DCU
Trimix fills for 3 divers (15/55, 50/15 and O2) in D12s at 250bar = 1 DCU
1 Drysuit = 2-7 DCU's
1 Scooter = 10 DCU's
Compressor, new = 8-30 DCU's

It makes it easier to figure out, harder for the wife to figure out, and any other tech diver can instinctively grasp the concept

Michael
Who, unfortunately, is way past 250 DCU's

Wow - I saw David's post and though he's lucky, my last insurance list was 70 DCU's and that didn't cover any spare bits it was only the kit I'd "need" replaced to carry on diving. But 250 is something else!

and what makes it MUCH worse is:
I broke my leg 3 weeks ago walking back to the car while wearing D12s, the tibea has a pin and 4 screws in it, the fibea has a plate and 9 screws attached to it. I'll be on crutches for at least another 4 weeks, and haven't yet gotten an answer on how long it takes to heal up well enough to carry D18s up and down the path to the Ressel.
I'm looking at a long, hot and unfortunately DRY summerwith a shitload of divegear that is going bad due to lack of use.

Michael

you guys :-)

lets face it I gave up because I did not want to know. I could play the game of prentending not to know how much Diving costs. It started because of a comment about buy gear with a budget. I just wondered how much you realy need in your pocket before you walk in to the dive shop. I think the real figure is closer to 10 than 5. just dont ask the breather guys. most started on oc then started again :-)
