| Moderator | I might be looking at buying a new dry suit, I know there are quite a few of you out there diving the Protec suits and are very happy with them. I know suits never end up costing what you think they are going to as stuff gets added to a "standard" suit. Obviously I don't know what the options are yet and what is going to be right for the diving, if I had know what to buy I wouldn't have had pockets put on the front of the leg of my current suit So presuming you start with a basic suit what are the extras I would be asking for and what would a ball park figure for a suit be. |

For a Protec, the only extras are pockets and I think these are around £20 each, suit cost me £704 all in for a MTMObviously I don't know what the options are yet and what is going to be right for the diving, if I had know what to buy I wouldn't have had pockets put on the front of the leg of my current suit So presuming you start with a basic suit what are the extras I would be asking for and what would a ball park figure for a suit be.

| Moderator | Thanks Gareth, so its a Pro Explorer suit with 2 pockets and that's it, everthing else is standard. Yep. Obviously you get to tell him your shoe size :D but everything that is on the description on their site is included in the price. You get a choice of materials, most of the people I know have got the lighter (which I think is the medium weight) material. I haven't have any issues with wearing through. I know that Rob Dobson got the heavier weight material as he wanted to do some wreck ferreting He is loathe to do anything other than you visit the shop to do the MTM, although he will do postal MTM, he just thinks that you get a much better fit if you visit him.

Yes, AFAIK Ian only has one boot choice but I haven't heard a complaint about them yet. They aren't floaty at all. Sterny managed to get turbos fitted to his but i think he will agree, it was probably a lot more hassle than it was worth.

| New Member | Fi, I recently bought a Santi suit. I think it worked out a little more expensive than a protec, but I'm very impressed with it. It has two good-sized, box-shaped pockets, si tech glove rings and a halcyon pee valve fitted (for about 1100 Euros). It took about 5-6 weeks to arrive once ordered. MTM fitting. Dave PS: I know the pee valve wouldn't be high on your list of priorities - just to illustrate that was included in the price so the price would come down somewhat.

| Moderator | Fi, Presumably you have to send your measurements off ? I think I would prefer the manufacturer to do them so there are no mistakes. It took about 5-6 weeks to arrive once ordered. MTM fitting. Dave I'll check for a website though, thanks. I have also considered BARE suits as my LDS sells them but I don't think they do MTM in the UK. Anyone got a BARE MTM suit Last edited by Fiona; May 20th, 2007 at 05:39 PM. |
