Apeks faceplate tools-TX/ATX 50

Hi there,
Was quite hoping to have a look inside my second stages sometime soon, and was wondering if there is anywhere in the UK that sells these tools? Ive seen the TX ones on ebay from time to time, but never ones for the ATX-was just wondering if there is a supplier somewhere out there.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Piers

Just hold a piece of non-slip cloth against the second stage face plate and turn.

Try turning it wearing a pair of marigolds, they give extra grip. Failing that put the points of an open pair of pliers in opposite slots and turn. If you use needle nose pliers then make sure they don't slip and puncture the diaphragm (yes, I have )

On site, something you are likely to have is, inner tube works a treat and you don't need a marigold fettish (eh stuart ) or expensive tools. As Stuart rightly points out needle nose pliers will work for the very stuborn.

I agree, no need to waste money on the tool unless you're a techie servicing loads of the things.

Once you've opened it up for the first time, you can do it up hand tight and it'll be easy the next time.

My wife has a little square of rubbery sheet she keeps in the kitchen for opening jars* and I find one of those is perfect for the job.

* at least that's what she tells me it's for, maybe it's a dental dam

I find when re-fitting its best to start them off upside down. The Apeks logo is then upright when tightened up.

haha,
you absolute gents!!! The marigolds worked a charm, although it was a bit manky from lying around the dishes for the past couple of months!

Cheers,
P.

when you screw the plates back on, don't do them up too tight. Just enough tio hold them in. It's maybe 20° off on mine.
