New Regs finally!!!!

I have finally decided that I will retire my trusty old Legends to stage regs and get me-self a couple of BRAND NEW main regulators.

This is a great event for me as I have had these ones for almost 5 years now and they have been with me to all sorts of nutty places . Always given me fair breath and once only (the older one) had started a pressure creep AFTER 4.5 YEARS!!!!!!!! and many.........many dives.

They still work perfectly, but I get the feeling they deserve a good rest and only be taken on special dives.

Your input will be of very high value to me. Also, please add comments if any. eg: you didn't/did like them etc.

Spiros Siouris is on a distinguished road

I went for DS4's and XTX50's.

Although the XTX50's are a fairly new product, you have to think about that all the internal components are the same as the ATX/TX series, and only the plastic enclusore has changed. I don't think there should be any additional reliability problems when compared to the ATX's or TX's

What I like about the XTX50's:
Nice exhaust ports that are longer than the ATX series.
The overal size is the same as the ATX's.

What I don't like about them:
The purge button is smaller and oval shaped and this makes it just a little bit harder to find it when you want to purge. I've got used to it now and can purge with no delay, but it can be annoying for the person who you're donating to if he has to spent that extra split second to find it... If I knew this before I bought them, it would have made my choice a lot harder, and I'd probably have gone for the ATX's instead. Saying that, if it keeps worrying me for my buddie(s), then I can always put ATX front covers with the nice big and round purge buttons.

DS4's and atx 40's.

They do the job, no problems.

Not much to add.

DS4s and ATX50s here - although my first regs were the legend supremes and having used various regs in my limited experience since then, I actually think they're pretty decent regs

Backgas is MK25's with S600, best hose routing and nice compact regulators.

For stages DS4's with atx50 (hard to get these days I heard). I like these better, lower breathing resistance, impossible for me to free flow and very easy to service. Unforunately I like the hose routing not as good as the MK25's.

Still having some doubts about switching completely to apeks but house routing and lighter (for travelling) keep me thinking...

for doubles, i like the hose routing of the SP MK25s or the atomics. apeks are fine too (all my regs are apeks) but i would probably get MK25s if i could do it over again.

Backgas - FST/XTX100/ATX (I dive AL80 doubles - DS4s don't route nicely with AL80/Evolve 40 combo). Am not a fan of the hard plastic exhaust tee on the XTX second stage; I prefer the soft ones on TX50/100. Otoh, I don't like having a big second stage (i.e. TX or G250 size) on the left post.

Stage/deco - various DS4/TX50 or DS4/ATXs combos. DS4s are great - simple, compact, snag free design with straight down hose routing; I personally do not like using first stages with swivel turret (Mk20/25, DST, etc.) for stage/deco...

Single tank rig - MK20 + S600/R390 (my very first reg purchase, still in use).

DS4/TX50 backgas

...and Cor's sexy membranecovers to mystify and "delabelize" it

Handgemaakt kap voor Apeks 2e trap. Makkelijk te openen door extra grip.

Anybody mixing MK25's with TX50?

Also, there was a new sealed reg from $-pro with five IP threads in the pipeline to be marketed together with the re-introduced G250,
this was shown on the BOOT-fair this January,

I can not find it on the website?

I was wondering to try this for backgas due to excellent hoserouting.

Thanks,
Hoffi.

Hi Hoffi,

Those covers look pretty cool. Are they for stopping water current from causing free flow?
