![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Frog SMB Anyone tried the frog dSMB available from niknaks? It's 1m long and inflatable oraly or by suit feed. It appears to be an "homage" to the halcyon small CC alert marker. At 20 notes, it seems like at least a way to get a CC smb and have a play to see if hose inflation works for you personally, without the outlay for a Halcyon.

| New Member | Anyone tried the frog dSMB available from niknaks? Yep i've got one. It works a treat. Think the only difference is that the Halcyon has some metal around the inflator, whereas the Frog oe is all plastic. - I thinkIt's 1m long and inflatable oraly or by suit feed. | Moderator | Having used both, I prefer the Halcyon one as I find pushing the nipple into the Frog one a bit of a pain in the a*** and not as easy as the fixed valve of the Halcyon one. My $0.02

| Moderator | I have a couple of the Frog ones and I used one for the first time on Thursday and didn't get on with it, Gareth (Gloc) lent me his Halcyon one which was much easier to use. Anyone want a Frog 3' marker - make me an offer. Just a pity I put some of Mark's lovely solas initals on the other one. |

Fiona, Care to expand on "didn't get on with it" ? What was "much easier" about the other one. ? Feedback like this is important to make the product better if you wouldn't mind sparing the time. Cheers

| Moderator | Phill it might just have been me. "didn't get on with it" - this was the first time I had used it and I found it just a little less simple than the Halcyon one. The Frog one need me to either push the inflator against my teeth and blow or pull back on the collor - yes I know not very complicated but the Halcyon one was just blow. Gareth kindly lent me his Halcyon one for the weekend and I am glad he did, it was just one less thing to worry about. I'll probably keep the one I have labelled as a redundant spare but will buy the Halcyon's one for proper use. It was probably me I haven't heard anyone else say they don't like them. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have one of these. I had to replace my H version after i had to let go of it during a gentle (my arse) drift dive in Anglesey. But thats another story which involved raised voices, taunting and tears (in that order) Get on great with it. Its not as good as the H bag. This is due to the plastic inflate piece. The halcyon is metal and is easier to use. The plastic frog inlator has to be pushed in to inflate. Is removal of this tiny hassle worth the extra £25 quid. No not in my opinion. Also, i think that the colour of the frog is brighter and therefore has higher visibility at sea. But then if you want to be seen in a swelly sea, this is not the right DSMB. In rougher seas i use my 4.5 foot H DSMB which i have failed to lose yet. HTH Neil |
