![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Dry Suit spec. Whilst there has been discussions about almost every aspect of suits in the past. What if you had the chance to work with a manufacturer in order to make the ultimate dry suit for DIR type diving? Fit is the first and foremost requirement, but after that the devil is in the detail ![]() Zip placement and type? Pocket sizes, placement and intergrated details? Suit material and re-inforcement areas? Seam construction preference? Valve placement and type? I know my preferences , but I am sure these may differ to those of a more experienced diver.Moz ![]() |

| Padawan learner | Boots as well. Does anyone make any copies of turbo-soles or are neoprene socks as near as it gets?

| New Member | Hey MOZ, I can say what I like about the DUI Explorer and what I would add. The front zipper is nice for me, as I can don the suit very easy and my arm movement is much easier than a shoulder entry. Also, a zipper cover is a good idea, to keep the thingy out of the way. I enjoy the benefits I get from the TLS material, but I know that wreck divers will swear by their Cordura suits. But if TLS in chosen, the it is important to re enforce with a big Butt Pad, Knee Pads, Shoulder and lower arm overlays and a clover leaf in the crotch. The will make the suit more reliable and less prone to those silly small puntures that get worse about 1 hour into the dive when they develop into a tear! One thing that I think is paramount for a good DIR dry suit is a sleek fit. Close as possible without hindering movement. The best seam construction I have heard of so far is the stich and then glue method. DUI has a 7 year warranty on their seams. (it looks like I will need to use that warranty soon too, my suit has an unknown leak that is pissing me off) The new Apeks low profile dump valves seem to work great. A regular shoulder dump for me. The p-valve need to be positioned way down my leg though. But that is a personal preference born from neccessity..... I think I would add to the explorer is some kind of padding under the arm. The armpits seem to have become worn by my straps. So just a seam cover maybe. Otherwise, super suit.

| New Member | I left the boot bit out because I think turbo soles are purely a DUI product Hey MOZ,Turbo soles are just great! I am sure they are easy to make too. I mean a sock with a sole right. I think they should be an integral part of ANY suit just for how great they are.
