Fitting an O-Ring to the Battery Compartment of an Aladin Tec

The nice chap who sold me my Tec took it to a dive shop to have a quick look over before sending it on to me. However, the 'bright' people in the shop forgot to re-fit the O-ring, not that good for a dive computer when at 51m!!
So, I still have to get the O-ring into the back of my Tec before I can break it

As I understand it, the O-ring for the battery compartment is the same as a Vyper O-ring but when I tried to fit one yesterday the compartment lid is nowhere near being close enough to fit underneath the lugs.

Have I been given a bum steer or is there a knack to fitting the O-ring?

Regards

yes, leave the o ring at home, flood the unit, let it rot for a few weeks, have it replaced

Sounds like bum steer.

Mine just fitted like a glove.

To be fair - I would be going back to the person who sold the timer to you and asking them to do the leg work themselves - as they haven't sold you something that is fit for purpose..

That was option 2, I am just a nice guy and if I could have solved it by just fitting an O-ring it would have been easier than sending the timer back, although I have a feeling this wil the next plan!

Thanks.

Of course - another alternative is to order a replacement battery kit - which should contain the correct Oring.

Maybe its your lady hands not applying enough 'brute' force..

Perhaps a bit of ambient pressure would help? Why not try taking it down to 10m and see if the compression helps (thats 4.75 atas btw )

Brian has sorted me out. The O-ring which Jim sent still hasn't arrived. I bought a Vyper one from the Dive Shop in Weymouth hoping that I could fit it and take the Tec diving yesterday but I couldn't close the compartment cover.

See what this one looks like. Then I can break it and get a Tec 2
