OK - I give up with the damn thing - can some handy person help me?

Problem is that the handle on my reel (which is the standard one which looks like a goodman handle but thicker and is not adjustable) is just too high for my fingers to be able to control the reel when I am holding it. By the time I have the torch on the back of my hand and the reel underneath my finger barely touch the reel - even at full stretch. The degree of control is not enough.

I really need to swap it for an adjustable handle like a goodman handle which I can drop to make it shorter.... but I think it will require drilling and metal cutting and stuff and just can't do things like that.

Is there anyone in the UK contingent who could look at helping me sort this - in return for beer or chocolate (or both ) And does anyone know where I can buy a spare goodman handle to do it with (or have one they would like to sell)

Clare,

take a look at the agir pathfinder clone. I seem to recall it was using a spot welded handle, shouldnt be too hard to cut the welds and re-weld it to suit umpah lumpar hands.

Failling that, try finger stretching exercises, such as putting your fingers into your wallet at the bar more often. Its a common problem with people in your line of work

Check out the Dive Rite Reesl - I beleive they allow you to adjust the handle height.

Hm, that sounds like another of those difficulties divers of smaller size with smaller feet and hands get?

Clare, are you sure about that? Have a look at this picture - would your fingers still not reach?

Ermmmm Yup, it wasn't too well received I'm afraid.

Barry basically didn't think it was a goer, I'll have another word with him when I see him Monday.

Sorry about that.

I know what you mean about holding the Pathfinder. I have small hands and it can be frustrating. If you can't find a modification to the reel try extending your thumb and middle finger to lightly touching the spool. I've found this helps to stabilize the reel.
