Installing a p-valve in a TLS

OK I've previously installed a P-valve in my old DUI CF200. It was just a case of cutting a hole in the neoprene being careful to only cut the right place. However I've now got a brand new TLS and I can't bring myself to do it!

Any advice from TLS owners? I had heard that using a soldering iron was a good option?

Appreciate any advice. (And Phill thanks for the delivery arrived today!)

Thanks
Al

slimer is on a distinguished road

I know that it is kind of hard for you all to get what i use for a TLS but it is hard to do on a CLX. I use a .45 cal shell, it cuts the perfect size hole for the vlave to go through. On the CLX I had used it to make a good mark on the suit and then used a soldering iron to trace.

I have also seen a hole punch that was gotten from a leather store that is much stronger then the .45 cal shell.

To me the key is aquaseal and the washer.

I hope this helps some.

.45 calibre shell cases aren't exactly "readily available" in UK ;-)

Al, here's what I did.....

Get a pair of nail scissors, small ones with a curved blade. Lay the p-valve washer on the suit in the desired place and use the hole in the washer as a template to draw a circle of the correct diameter. Then, use the scissors to carefully cut out a small hole. You can gradually enlarge the hole until the bulkhead fitting fits exactly.

It worked for me on both TLS-350 and CLX-450.......

No - but it's a really really cool way of making the hole.

Nah, the chaps at dui advertise them as being seal proof. If it can handle being mauled by a toothy mammal smelling of fish* it should be ok.

* it should survive a night out in birmingham quite well too!! :D

Now I'm worried, my first thought when I read that (ok second thought) was "seen a few of those on Broad Street". First thought was must get a cloth to clean the coffee off the keyboard.

What scares me is I'm thinking like you :D
