![]() ![]() | Stage size Hi all, Looking at getting a stage. I don't do a great deal of deco at present but this may change as I grow more comfortable with it. As it's my first stage what would you recommend from from the following ALI40, ALI80. The obvious advantage of the 40 is size, while the 80 has more gas for me and the team and will be ok if I ever look at tech1 etc.. Suggestions please |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ian, As has been posted elsewhere get an 80 mate. If you are planning to do Tech 1 in the UK a 40 doesn't hold enough gas and an 80 with about 150 bar in it is a very nice bottle, certainly better in the water than a full 7 IMO. 80s are heavy to carry around out of the water but if you didn't like carrying heavy kit you wouldn't be diving ![]() Cheers, Fraser.

| New Member | Ali 7s Hi,Not sure why Suddenly the Ali80 is all the rage..it is after all designed as a bottom stage..I dive an Ali 7 ltr as a Deco Cylinder and its great ..have no issues with it floats nice as you use the gas All i'm saying its a tool in a box and shouldn't be discounted by a mere wave of a hand. Best Andy |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Andy, Is it a new 7 or one of the older variety? The new 7s are simply too heavy IMO. And the older 7s are rarer than rocking horse poo ![]() Cheers, Fraser.

Lugging an 80 isn't my idea of fun either, I was initally looking at a 7 but as i say hard to come by it would seem.Is it a new 7 or one of the older variety? The new 7s are simply too heavy IMO. | GUE Instructor Site Admin | Sandro has a great saying ... "Your first ten stages should all be 80s" ![]() Ian - if you plan to do Tech1 with AK, it's been said here before, but he will not accept a 40.
