![]() | Hi! Having read various positive comments about the relatively new Evolve wing, I wonder why anyone would consider buying a brand new Explorer wing these days? Are there situations when the Explorer is a better choice? |

However if you started with an Evolve I'm sure this would not really be an issue They have some rental evolves on Twin AL80's with Apeks regs on and they look fine though

Have to agree that the hose routing on ds4s is a bit cramped against the top of the wing but it can be done. There is a whole thread on the subject here! However if you started with an Evolve I'm sure this would not really be an issue They have some rental evolves on Twin AL80's with Apeks regs on and they look fine though I'm no expert but despite what I've said with the hoses I do like my evolve 40 I believe the extra lift at the base of the cylinders helps my trim and I can easily dump with the rear valve, something I've had problems with before. I use the longer euro DIRZONE cylinders and I believe there is a consensus that its the best wing for these. regards, steve.

However if you started with an Evolve I'm sure this would not really be an issue I guess I'm in the latter camp to some extent, but having gone from an Explorer to an Evolve with Mk25 first stages I've been really pleased with the hose routing. If there aren't photos online I can take some and post them early next week if anyone's interested. Having used both wings, I would make the same decision again to go with the Evolve; answering the initial question there are no reasons for me personally to get the Explorer.(I may be slightly biased as I also dive an Ecplise and like the standardising of both wings to the toroidal form). -Tim |
