![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | What would it take The last few years have seen LED dive-lights come on an amazing amount. Solus have a credible primary LED light and this forum regularly sees claims that the output from LED back-ups rivals that from some HID primaries. At present, the brightest HID can lights are brighter than the brightest led back-ups and this will probably always be the case. but it got me thinking... how much light is enough? assuming that fairly soon, an LED back-up will exist that out-performs the current exploration level 21watt HIDs, I ask the question (for discussion only) how good would back-up lights have to be before you stopped using a can-light and the small but real inconvniences of the umbilical? Some people already do this for easy night-dives... how good would back-ups need to be before you relied on them as primary exploration lights? Also, if your primary had the form factor of a back-up. Would ou still stow it as you do now? presumably you would want a goodman style handle or even a full time-attachment to the forearm and wrist. |
