| New Member | Hiya, I just got a new dui tls 350 explorer with the old sitech (lysekil)dump valve. It works fine maybe too well when doing valve drills with left hand it dumps so much gas i start to sink. My buddy told me i should close it down a fair bit as it looks like as i'm inflating all the air just vents straight away when left arm raised, i ended up with a very wet left arm. Do u need to have the valve half closed or all the way closed on the bottom. Another question what do u cold water divers use on your feet i got 400g thinsulate boots but they feel very weird too puffy and very sloppy when finning thanks for any help |

Try to put gas as little as to avoid squeeze i.e. just enough to have full mobility but no more then that. I have Sitek on my old dry suit and I have to close it just one step to avoid unitentional auto-dump.I just got a new dui tls 350 explorer with the old sitech (lysekil)dump valve. Although I believe that thinsulate works much better especialy when some watter comes into (hasn't happened to me yet). |

| New Member | I think MonkSeal has it right - sounds like too much air in the suit - you only need to add enough air to take off the squeeze and allow your undersuit to keep you warm. You're not using your suit for bouyancy are you? I use Xerotherm Arctic socks (they're made of two layers of technical fleece material), and they seem to work pretty well, even when wet. I believe Thinsulate works even better when wet, but having not tried the socks, can't comment on fit. Are the boots in your drysuit the right size for you?

![]() | 400g booties in Sydney is alot of insulation. Have you tried thinner booties/thick socks? I dive 200g booties in NZ 14degree water, and have never had cold feet. Still get that feeling thou, feels quite sloppy finning. I just live with it. |

| New Member | i thinks u are right maybe i have to much air in the suit but it seems restrictive for back kick . 400g socks are way over kill hard to even get my fins on have gone to just socks the water here is 18 16 anyway. My main point was do u all dive with exhasut valve fully open or change during dive, close on bottom open as ascend, thanks for the help and if need any aussie info pm me thanks |

Here's procedure I do: check if it's opened before entering the water (to avoid possible injuries jumping from the boat), leave it opened during dive, close on surface and inflate suit to add bouyancy.thanks for the help and if need any aussie info pm me thanks |
