![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Wing/suit inflator connector At the DIR gig I borrowed Rich's wing and twinset for a dive and although everything was where I'd expect it to be ( ) we had a problem with my suit inflator. My, ahem, nipple on the valve was different to Rich's.Since then I've noticed in Bob's info a comment that the suit and wing inflator should be the same connector to allow you to swap them if necessary. So - if I need to get a new nipple and suit inflator hose for my suit, what make/type do I need to fit in with everyone else?! (And where can I get them? Nackers? ) |

![]() ![]() | OK Guys - Here's my .02p's worth ...... correct me at will! There are basically three different types of Inflator nipples on the market. a) CEJN (A.K.A. Apeks Connector - Made in sweden) b) The Seatec nipple. c) The International (DIN) nipple. Now, the CEJN connector is visually different than the other two - it's wider and has a large hole bored right down the middle to maximize flow. If you look up the end of the hose (ooh err...) that connects to this nipple there is a brass cup which covers the end of the nipple to provide the seal. I think it would be fair to say these are the standard nipples supplied on drysuits straight from the manufacturer as they are designed for a higher flow rate. At a quick glance, The International & Seatec nipple are similar in appearance. They are of the same size and dimensions, there is however a slight difference. The International nipple again has a single hole bored down the centre where as the seatec nipple has two small holes drilled at the perimeter. The international one has (for want of a better description) a small raised footbridge over the center bored hole. Both are designed to work with hoses that encompass a Shreader valve assembly (standard BCD inflation hose). My two Halcyon wings & my cressi stab have the Int. nipple supplied as standard (in fact, I have never seen a bcd with a seatec nipple) - i have changed my drysuit to the seatec and have had no compatability problems with the hoses. As mentioned above though the flow rate of the later two is lower than the cejn. Others in this thread have supplied the link ... Speak Nicely to "Nina" at Underwater Explorers and she'll pop one in the post. HTH Nick |
