| New Member | I'm thinking of buying an aluminumn back plate for traveling and I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to Halcyon... Does anyone know how the Dive Rite (BC1034 Aluminum (1.5 lbs) http://www.diverite.com/Products/Pro...oductID=BC2116 and Basic Harness (BC1063) http://www.diverite.com/Products/Pro...oductID=BC1063 compares to a Halcyon backplate and harness? Does anyone use both? I'm hoping to use my Halcyon MC storage pack on it along with a Halcyon STA and Eclipse wing (and possibly an Explorer 40 for when diving doubles abroad). Thanks Richard |

| Sorry for being a dick | i'm about to 'upgrade' my girlfriend from an Aluminium backplate to a stainless one. You are welcome to borrow the Aluminium one to see how you like it. As far as the harness goes......it's just the same as any other one piece harness as far as i can see. Oh, the MC Storage pack won't fit on some brands of backplates. The perimeter holes are in the wrong places.

![]() | I take it that most backplates would fit most wings of differing manufactre??? I am thinking about getting a new ali B/P for teaching in the pool but don't want to pay the H premium this time! |

The diverite plate I bought fits my halcyon sta and wing |

The aluminium plate is a lot lighter than the steel version but unless you do a lot of travelling with it AND you take your baggage allowance right to the wire, it's a big expense for little return. You'll also have to add more weight when you dive. |

![]() | I use a OMS ali backplate, with the Diverite harness and a diverite Recwing. It all works fine ![]() I've also got an OMS STA too which also works fine with everything
