Hi folks
a question for those of you who have neoprene dry socks on your dry suit and use with a rock boot.
After a dive - is the neoprene sock wet / damp on the inside? - assuming that there's no leak

I've seen the socks DUI put on the suit, and it looks like the same crushed neoprene that's used in the suit production - so I'm assuming that the sock stays nice and dry?

The reason for my question - I tried a suit yesterday (not DUI) with its own version of a neoprene sock. The neo sock was about 4mm and more like wet suit neoprene, rather than the material used in a drysuit. By the end of the dive - my feet were "damp"

any feedback very welcome

Sounds like you have a slow leak. This is what I have been using since seeing the suggestions of Michael Fisch.

Turn the suit inside out. Close the zipper. Fill the suit with water.

Even if you have a pin hole leak that you can not see with a flashlight or air pressure inside the suit with soapy water, over time the water will leak out. All you need to do is keep you eyes peeled for the wet spot.

If all you are worried about is the feet, you should not need to clamp the seals. If you want to leak check this way, up in the torso or arms. You are going to need to clamps the seals. Best DIY solutuon I have heard is using two pieces of wood on either side of the seal. Then holding it closed with a C clamp. If you have the nice dry suit clamps from Oxycheq, they work great too.

A hair dryer is a nice thing to have around. Can use it to dry up spilled water on the suit. If you don't catch the leak while it is just a small spot. Dry the area and watch to pin-point the leak.

Then just mark the area with chalk or something. Dry the suit and patch with aqua seal/sure.

Cheers!!

Kevin

i tested on the morning - and there doesn't appear to be a problem with the seams etc - so it's not a leak

I think the neoprene material used for the boots is wrong

back to the drawing board
