Thanks god for that!

About a month ago, I couldn't swim more than 50M. I could do that 50M in about aminute, but then run out of steam. Additionally, I could not swim underwater to, quite literally, save my life.

A month of swimming later and this morning I did 400M in 14 minutes and swam about 35M underwater.

For once, I haven;t left everything to the last minute, so thank god for that, I was VERY worried about the fundies swim test in three weeks

Swimming is probably a good skill in this sport :D:D:D
Keep up the good work

I have mine coming up in two months and I buddy of mine has challenged/tricked the local dive gang into running a half-marathon in may, so I better shape up too

Cheers
Anders

I'm like you Garf i'm a very strong and fast swimmer over shirt distances but then run out of puff. I need to get some practice in as i'm looking to do my fundies course this year.

It might just be me but isn't 300m a very short swim? This is about the warm up distance we use when teaching snorkel diving which is a prerequisite for scuba training.

Are your problems based on swimming technique or just you being more of a cauch potato then an athlete?

I'm not trying to appear demeaning to any of you, it just suprises me that anyone could have a problem swimming that distance.

Cheers
Jonas

Congratulations Garf, sounds like you've got your reward for working at it!

...and it's the least of your worries for fundies :D

I think mine are more poor technique. I hare breast ****** and therefore never do it so i have to resort to front crawl but i always seem to go too fast and knacker myself out. I either have to slow down my front crawl or start using breast ****** and my distance will increase.

I have very poor swimming technique, mostly because i don't care that much for swimming, I find it really boring.
But when I do swim crawl i use a lot more energy and don't go very far as opposed to breastswimming where I get further, quicker. I think breast swimming is a lot easier to master then crawl. One important thing that i found was that trim is very important so be sure to get your head down into the water during the str0ke, and if you can hold your breath during 2 - 3 str0kes and then breathe.

Cheers
Jonas
