![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | DIR Essentials DVD OK so here it is. Andrew G has a DVD out called the DIR Essentials it is basically his equivalent of a Fundies. It is a fantastic recourse for anyone looking to learn about DIR, finally, have material to work with before and after taking a course. It has the complete PowerPoint slide that he has developed over his years of teaching, as well as other interesting documentation and excellent footage of skills and much more. Check it out: www.5thd-x.com Enjoy |

![]() | Technically, DIR Essentials is more like fundies was when it was a workshop. I was in the first Essentials class taught by JoeT at 5thd-x and it is, in fact, a tremendous introduction to DIR. IMO it was a better intro for a diver without tons of experience (and zero tech experience) than taking fundies only to fail. I got some great takeaways from Essentials to work on, and will be tackling DIR-F (with the intent of passing not just a provisional) hopefully sometime this summer. Joe had talked about 5thd-x releasing the videos and slide deck to students (we only got the slide deck), I'm really glad to see JoeT, AG, etc. made this effort to put this together in a DVD. It will be a great resource, esp. for those of us who don't live near hoards of other DIR-minded divers. I've already ordered my copy. :D

Joe T. is a funny guy.. most of the time. ![]() ![]() |

![]() | Hey everyone, Just updating, the Essentials DVD is readily available and ships the same day. As far as international postage it runs about $8.00 and takes 4-7 days. I am not sure where you got the information on 4 weeks but I will investigate UPDATE: Ok, so I went into the online store and found some very old information. It's been updated to reflect our current situation. Apologies. As Adobo suggests, we're funny. Honest. Last edited by joe; January 18th, 2006 at 05:22 AM. |

Garf, I ordered this on Thursday afternoon and it's just arrived - $6 shipping. It's a shame I've got to go out this morning else I'd be sat in front of it right now. |

![]() | I've been reviewing my copy for a few days now and think its a great review compared to any other video resource out there for Dir-f. That said heres what I feel needs some consideration: Add the Valve Drills for Doubles. Exagerate fin movement in separate cut. The diver shown is obviously a pro in my book and I really have been looking close for those fin movements for the Helicopter turn. Add some background music or narration to the cuts. Shipping was fast. Price was great. An excellent resource! Thanks to 5th d. Henry in Wpb |

As an FYI, we're incorporating many of everyone's suggestions into the upcoming Intro To Tech DVD. Chief among them is narration AND background music, along with all the necessary skills in doubles. We're also going to revamped some of the same suggestions for Essentials. Add the Valve Drills for Doubles. Exagerate fin movement in separate cut. Thanks, joe |
