![]() | Helicopter Finning Techniques I just dont seem to be getting the hang of these! The Videos show both feet going, the class showed just one. Are there any online resources or accurate descriptions on this technique? Thanks. Henry |

| GUE Instructor/DIRX Moderator | In order to do a helicopter turn you basically frog kick forward with one foot and backwards with the other. As a stepping stone to this, you can turn in small circles using just one foot at a time, so finning forward with only one foot, or swimming backwards with only one foot. Once you are relaxed with this, try one cycle forwards with one foot and one cycle backwards with the other. Once you are happy with this then try doing both at once. HTH J |

![]() ![]() | Practice with backward kick on one foot first, the other foot in normal frog kick will 'fall in place'.... I know its hard initially, but only practice will get you there....... The sequence I do is 'load backward kick' and just as you pull the backward fin in, the frog kick leg loads up. So when you pull backward, frog kick follows.... I have a picture of this, but cant seem to upload...
