![]() | Need Guidance I`m new to the DIR way of doing things and would be very keen to learn more! I`ve been diving DIR only for a few weeks and like how its working out for me so far but I realise that there is a huge amount I still have to learn! Any advice folks? ![]() |

| Padawan learner | If you have not already done so, consider doing the DIR-Fundamentals course. That way you'll learn to do things truely DIR and not just your interpretation of DIR. I have got mine coming up at the end of the week so can't really tell you what it's like but there are plenty of write up's in the 'reports' section.

Davey Willo, Dave Dowson, Garry Moffat, Andy Bryson amongst others (and me) Hi Mattler,Cheers Jen I would definitely recommend that. My first dive like that was with some DIR people at Stoney and there was no hard sell or "you don't want to do it like that" and in the water it was just a dive, no skills for me, I was just an observer. A great way to find out more. And to see a team in action, just doing what they do, is great to show you what's acheivable. Plus a half hour chat afterwards really does dispell the DIR-flaming rubbish you hear from time to time on t'internet. Cheers, good luck and welcome to the forum. Jonathan |

Hang out with some people that dive that way which has been suggested. Most of us aren't the giant *****s some would have you believe. Find out from people who actually do it, not those who don't, but want to... or worse, don't want to.Any advice folks? ![]() That should let you know if DIR is right for you. If you think it is, take the fundies course. Most people, myself included, would say take the fundies course anyway as it has great info for non-DIR divers. HTH, Chris |

Davey Willo, Dave Dowson, Garry Moffat, Andy Bryson amongst others (and me) Thanks for the offer Jen but although I`m from Redcar, I live down near Cambridge and right now I`m in the North Sea on an oilrig so it would be something that I guess would happen if we were diving at say stoney on the same day.Cheers Jen |
