Hello all,

I would like to make a family trip this summer, and well it of cause has to provide some excellent diving and my goal would be some excellent cave diving :-) I was thinking about Mexico, but it is a long way - so I was surfing around the net, and found a video of cave diving from Mallorca.

could any one provide me with a link with some information ? depth range ? temperature ? is it hard to get to the caves ? can you dive in them ? where to get fills and rent doubles and stages ?

any information - and suggestions for other places like it will be highly appreciated.

best regards

Anders

There's also possibility to cave dive in Sardinia as well as wreck diving.

If you do a search on protec Sardinia on the web, you should find some extra info,
it's tech dive center and should be able to offer all mixes you'd need
and info about local caves/wrecks.

I think there are some people on this forum that can give more info
on Sardinia.

hi anders

Not so much a help for organisation, but it may be of interest for you to check out the BBC iplayer and search for the oceans programme from a few weeks ago. Some stunning film from a cave. Bit strokey but good film quality.
I would link but iPhone says no!

Hi Anders,

Lets say that Mallorca caves are like Yucantans. There a lot of well decorated caves, crowded of stalactites. Some of the systems are explored up to 11Km. The water is warm and most parts are shallow.

In the other hand, there are no good infraestructure in the island for diving. The centers are focused on rec/single tank/air diving and the local groups are not minded to help.

Summer time is not the best time for Mallorca, but do not hesitate dropping me a PM if you finally plan to stay there and need a buddy!

Cheers,

Hi, I've been there 2 years ago, island is really cool.

You may ask olivier at Hippocampes dive center in Illetas, is working on my project to go there and grab info poc a poc as they say to go to Mallorca's caves.

You have Two deep wreck too, the Pegaso and the Impetueso.

Helium is a hell to obtain and it's very expensive on this island. I heard that only carburos metallicos sells gaz on Mallorca, Spanish rules about gas blending in dive center is a no no to deal with...

Hello Anders!

May be Leo Klein from Aqua Mallorca Diving can help you. He has a license to dive around the dragonera. There are some caves so far I know and he might show you where the entrances are. If you recieve further informations please forwar it to me in a PM. I did dive a couple of times at Mallorca and I love the island really. I still know the old airport...the new one is overcrowded if i compare it to the past. But the island has still some peacful places. May be we can meet in summer for a dive vacation. So whats about it?

Hi, Anders.
It is true but only in some cases or people -like the author of the quotation mentioned-. It depends on your personal style. My experience is the opposite: if you go there friendly, clearly, considering the others like equals, usually you have a good response. You must not ignore any local or different minds.
But with some reputations, it´s normal not to get any facility.
